AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Gets A Software Update

The launch of Samsung Galaxy S4 brings along Android 4.2 Jelly Bean to Samsung devices. Many Samsung smartphone owners will hope for their handsets to receive the Android 4.2 and a recent software release to AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2 would have increased their hopes even more, but unfortunately the software update still keeps the operating system as Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

AT&T is rolling out a software update to its Samsung Galaxy Note 2, model number SGH-I317, which weighs around 69MB.

The U.S. carrier has not released a changelog. As such exact details of the software release are not known. However, some AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners who have received the software update have shared their thoughts and according to owners the software update changes the radio and the kernel on the device while also making a few other changes to boost the performance of the handset.

A user who downloaded the software update said on an Android Central forum "This software package includes security updates to the lock screen, voicemail system fixes, and ISIS bug fixes. Copied from the AT&T support site. However they say the baseband should be CAMC4. The same as the last update for the chipset security update. But mine says CAMC3. What do the rest of you have?"

There is no doubt that Samsung smartphone owners with Android 4.1.2 Jelly are hoping that their devices are updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. A recent report indicates that Samsung will roll out Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean to its Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 by May end or early June. The report suggests that it's highly likely that this update will come after the announcement of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie at Google I/O on May 15.

We will have to wait until May 15 to see if Google launches Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and if Android 4.2.2 is rolled out to devices running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
