The message that Kristen Stewart wants to convey about her new look is to redefine feminism. Her transformation is in line with her upcoming movie "Underwater". The 26-year-old "Twilight" actress made an appearance on the Today show last March 9, where she conversed with co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Willie Geist about her new hairstyle.
New Hair For Her New Movie
Kristen's new hairstyle is for her upcoming film Underwater, where she plays a mechanic working on an oil rig at the bottom of the sea. This means the whole story will require a hard helmet and as little maintenance as possible.
"I'm the one who came up with the idea of shaving the hair, and director Will Eubank agreed that it will suit the role," Kristen revealed.
Production & Cast
Deep-sea and an action-packed movie. This is how Kristen describes her new movie "Underwater". In addition, Jessica Henwick and T.J. Miller will be joining the cast.
Kristen follows a crew of underwater scientists who is in panic, looking for safety after an earthquake devastated their ocean-floor laboratory.
In the director's chair, Underwater will be under the supervision of Director Will Eubank, who directed some sci-fi themed dramas in 2014, "The Signal," and 2011's "Love". The script was written by Brian Duffield, who worked on the 2016 Natalie Portman's Western Jane Got a Gun and the second part of the Divergent YA film franchise, "Insurgent", in 2015.
Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Tonia Davis will be the producers of the film, while Kevin Holloran will be the executive producer. Fox-based Chernin is known for "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" and "Hidden Figures," which was nominated for best picture at the Oscars. He will also produce several upcoming Fox films such as Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn's action-comedy, "Snatched", franchise entry "War for the Planet of the Apes", Idris Elba's romance-adventure "The Mountain Between Us", and Hugh Jackman's P.T. Barnum biopic "The Greatest Showman."
Underwater is now under production in New Orleans.
