Those who have played any of the games from the Zelda franchise would know that a lot of items are bought with Rupees. Although this is the main currency in the franchise, it is very hard to come by during certain stages of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This makes rupees a very valuable commodity that should be given the appropriate time to farm.
About Rupees
According to USGamer, Breath of the Wild also has the same Rupee color value like any other games in the Zelda franchise. Wherein, a Green Rupee gives the player one Rupee, a Blue Rupee gives five Rupees, a Red Rupee gives 20 Rupees, a Purple Rupee gives 50 Rupees and a Gold Rupee gives 300 Rupees.
Although there are some items in the game that can be purchased by other means, Rupees can be used by the player to buy most of the available items offered in the game. Furthermore, Rupees in Breath of the Wild are harder to obtain than any other Zelda game. This has resulted in a lot of players grinding and putting in a lot of hours just to get their fair share of Rupees. However, there are some ways of getting Rupees faster.
How To Get Rupees Faster
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a really big game that offers a lot of features, and within it are valuable treasure. When the player goes out and ventures into the unexplored, they are bound to find treasure, which can either be equipped or used by the player, or they can sell these to a merchant for a premium.
For example, if players kill The Stone Talus, they will be awarded with a massive item drop that comes with many high valued items, which they can sell or equip. Another example would be obtaining the Climber's Bandana at the Rhee Dahee Shrine and selling it for a total of 600 Rupees or finding the treasure chest in the Ka'O Makagh Shrine, which contains a Gold Rupee that is worth 300 Rupees.
These however, are not the only ways to get Rupees faster. An article by Attack of the Fanboy highlights some of the most common and uncommon ways to get Rupees faster.
Since a main component of Breath of the Wild is to roam around and venture into the unknown, players are bound to encounter creatures and animals alike. These then could be hunted down for their meat and sold at a low cost or the meat could be cooked along with other ingredients and sold at a higher value. However, meat is not the only food that can be cooked and sold for a higher value, so players could always experiment for themselves to find out which cooked food provides the most Rupees.
Another way to earn Rupees faster is to mine for ore. These are one of the most valuable items in the game and could be found on mountains and on rocky locations. The large black ore deposits specifically can be hit with a two handed weapon, more preferably a mining item or they can be bombed to drop whatever ore they contain. These ores can be sold but the value depends on what the ore is, so players can save the game before mining the black ore deposit and then reload the game until they get the desired ore they want.
Furthermore, as there are a lot of enemies roaming in the world of Breath of the Wild, the player is bound to collect a ton of items that they deem unnecessary and just space consuming. However, all of these items and equipment can be turned into profit. Now, the value of each individual item doesn't particularly matter as what is important is the number of items. These can be sold by bulk to a merchant and would particularly earn the player a lot of Rupees faster than cooking meat.
Lastly, at the southwest area just outside of the Lurelin Village, there is a hut with an old man. This person offers the player to play a game that gives them a chance to win 300 Rupees for the cost of 100 Rupees. Now, there is a pattern to the game that the old man is offering and that it changes from time to time. So it is advised that before choosing, the player should hit save and if the player loses, they could just hit reload each time until they win the 300 Rupees. This method can be repeated as much as the player wants until they are satisfied with how much Rupees they have.
