The list of region-locked Pokémon in Pokémon GO still remains unstable with players still figuring out which Pokémon species have an exclusive spawn in the game. Apparently, the Bug Pokémon, Dunsparce, has been previously suspected as a region exclusive Pokémon due to its super rare spawn. It is said that Dunsparce might be a Gen 2 regional exclusive along with Heracross and Corsola.
According to Mic, the claims are not surprising since even the known gaming sites report it to be a regional exclusive. It was said that Dunsparce is locked in Australia along with the gen 1 regional exclusive Pokémon Kangaskhan.
However, people from The Silph Road reported a sighting of the said Pokémon in North America two months ago. Several reports suggest that Dunsprace is not region-locked but has an extremely rare spawn. Though the said Pokémon does not possess any abilities to be considered as a solid entry for a gym battle, this is still a good news for players who aims to complete their PokeDex.
Based on past experiences regarding these region-locked Pokémon, players are struggling to complete their PokeDex since some Pokémon are not available in their area. So far, the list of regional exclusive Pokémon consists of Farfetch'd, Tauros, Mr. Mime and Kangaskhan for generation 1 and Corsola and Heracross for generation 2.
The idea of having a region-locked Pokémon seems to be great especially when Trading System feature arrives later. Collecting these exclusive Pokémon will be essential soon as several players are expected to look for these Pokémon to fill out their PokeDex. Nonetheless, considering those claims suggest that Dunsparce is a super rare spawn and does not have an exclusive spawn. Meanwhile, players could check Silph Road's Global Nest Atlas to see the Pokémon spawning in their area nearby.
Pokémon GO is now available on Android and iOS devices.
