It looks like we might not see a summer release of the iPhone 5S and low-cost iPhone like some were expecting. All signs are pointing to a September release, like last year. New information regarding the iPhone 5S and low-cost iPhone has leaked.
Apple likes to try out new designs on products to see if they appeal to consumers. We saw this with the last iPod touch refresh which featured six color choices. Apple is also rumored to be using the iPad mini design in its upcoming iPad 5. It seems consumers like their Apple products offered in colors if this new report is to be believed.
Macotakara is reporting that Apple will be shipping the iPhone 5S and low-cost iPhone in multiple colors. Sources have told the site that the low-cost iPhone is being tested in many different colors and include navy, gold, white, orange, gray, white, pink, green, and blue. The source claims that the low-cost iPhone will not be available in black. The low-cost iPhone will have a polycarbonate case, similar to Nokia's Lumia smartphones. The low-cost iPhone will reportedly begin a field test production in June and then go into full-scale production beginning in July for a September launch.
The site claims that Apple will also ship the iPhone 5S in multiple colors, instead of the previous black and white only models. The site says that the iPhone 5S will be available in black, white, green, gold, and possibly the same colors offered in the low-cost iPhone. Sources have told the site that the iPhone 5S will see an updated camera with the inclusion of a dual-LED flash. The iPhone 5S is expected to retain the same design of the current iPhone 5 but have a few extras to give it the S moniker. Apple always updates the processor in each iPhone, current rumors claim that the iPhone 5S will have a 1.2GHz quad-core Apple A7 processor and 2GB of RAM. This would certainly make the iPhone 5S seem much faster than its predecessor's 1.3GHz dual-core Apple A6 processor and 1GB of RAM. The camera is expected to be bumped of from the iPhone 5's 8-megapixel camera to a 12-magapixel camera with dual-LED flash is this rumor is correct. The iPhone 5S will is also rumored to be getting a fingerprint reader on its Home button.
We probably won't hear Apple mention an iPhone 5S at WWDC 2013; it didn't announce the iPhone 5 at the event last year. The iPhone 5S is rumored to get its own event some time in September, just like the iPhone 5. As with all rumors, especially Apple rumors, take these with a huge grain of salt.
