As we get closer to Apple's World Wide Developers Conference, the rumor mill is going to heat up with what we should expect to see. iOS 7 will be shown off to the public for the first time, and there are some new details regarding its new interface.
One of the major reasons people have purchased millions of iPhones since its release in 2007 has been about what's inside. Sure, the outside of the iPhone from a design perspective has always been admired, but what keeps millions of people buying iPhones and other Apple devices is iOS's simple and elegant look.
From the original iPhone to the current iPhone 5, Apple has given consumers groundbreaking, beautifully designed smartphones, but what hasn't changed since the original iPhone is the overall look of iOS. Things are finally about to change with the introduction of iOS 7.
According to 9To5Mac, inside sources have described iOS 7 as being "black, white, and flat all over." It's referring to iOS 7's rumored new interface of a less round and glossy look to a more flat design that will reportedly add new black and white interface touches throughout the operating system. Apple has put Senior Vice President of Industrial Design, Jony Ive in charge of iOS 7's overhaul and here's what iOS users might see when it is unveiled at WWDC 2013.
Sources say that while iOS 7 will be redesigned, it will keep the overall user-friendly experience that millions of people are very familiar with. According to sources, the lock screen will lose its glossy time bar and be replaced with a matte black interface. Notifications on the Lock screen will reportedly be easier to manage with new gestures.
Notification Center is expected to feature a darker interface and will have panels for new widgets. Sources say that Apple is going to give Notification Center a dedicated panel for easier access to settings like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, and more. Apple is also said to be testing new widgets in addition to the weather and stock widgets that are currently available, an example of a news feed widget was given.
The home screen in iOS 7 is expected to look very similar to the current home screen, but icons will lose their shiny look and will have a flat appearance. Apple has reportedly redesigned all of the stock apps currently found in iOS. The Notes, Email, Calendar, and Maps app will all take on a matching flat white interface. Apple's stock Weather app is said to get animated images depending on the current weather. iOS 7 is also expected to get Flickr and Vimeo integration, similar to Facebook and Twitter 's current integration in iOS 6.
We only have a few more weeks to go before we finally get to see Apple unveil iOS 7 and its new look to the world at WWDC 2013.
