Samsung is setting up its new Galaxy Note to be the front-runner in the phablet market. According to rumor mills, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will have cool features such as optical image stabilization (OIS), optical zoom, and a 13-megapixel sensor.
According to the Korean website ETNews, Samsung is busy at work to make sure that the camera of the Galaxy Note 3 will create some buzz in the industry when it launches. Aside from having a 13-megapixel camera, the Galaxy Note 3 will also feature technologies that will get rid of photographical annoyances such as shutter smear. It will also boast of OIS technology. The report also disclosed that the video capabilities have also been improved.
OIS technology is utilized by cameras and other gadgets to decrease the blur that results from moving while taking pictures or shooting videos. Most mobile devices make use of image stabilization controlled by software but the OIS feature will address the motion at the sensor or at the lens when taking images and videos.
Samsung is also reportedly considering a 3x optical zoom for the camera of the new Galaxy Note but this might be dropped since it will cause the architecture to be thicker.
Galaxy Note 3 is expected to be unveiled at the IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany in September.
It is not surprising for the Korean manufacturer to improve the cameras on its line of mobile devices since it also has a good number of digital cameras on its portfolio, including the Galaxy range of cameras. Smartphone makers are also seem not to be focusing too much on adding higher pixel counts but rather on enhancing available features of camera phones.
Galaxy Note 3 is rumored to sport a 6-inch, 1080p AMOLED display and have an eight-core Exynos processor that clocks 1.9GHz working in tandem with 2GB of RAM. If the rumors about the camera technologies are true, then the Galaxy Note 3's camera will even be better than that of the Galaxy S4. Most likely it will also have the latest version of the Android, either 4.2.2 or updated to 4.3.
Remember that Samsung has not confirmed the details about the Galaxy Note 3 but we won't be surprised if the successor of Galaxy Note 2 does debut with impressive camera features because Samsung has a good history of impressing consumers with its smartphone cameras.
Elsewhere, according to a report by Android Authority, Samsung is also planning to roll out Galaxy S4 Zoom, a smartphone that will feature better camera features. This device might have a 16-megapixel camera and 10x optical zoom. If OIS technology makes its way to the upcoming Galaxy Note 3, then there is no doubt it will also be used on the Galaxy S4 Zoom.
