Walmart Confuses Customers With New Backlit Remote

Walmart's new Onn Pro Google TV box sparked confusion among customers after revealing two possible versions of its upgraded remote. Early access to the device showed that the remote should be backlit with a couple of new buttons.

The retailer initially listed the Onn Pro box with an upgraded remote that featured the customizable button, Free TV button, and backlighting. However, Walmart seemingly updated the image with a different remote layout, omitting the Free TV button and the backlight.

Walmart explained that the "first wave" of Onn Pro devices will have both backlit and non-backlit versions of the remote. Customers will have to rely on their luck for a while until supplies last.

Walmart Assures Backlit Remote for Later Purchases

Walmart announced that once the first wave stock is sold out, the retailer will shift to the backlit remote with a Free TV button. Regardless, the customizable button will still be available on both versions.

The custom button also known as the "Magic Button" was first rumored to appear for the 2020 Chromecast 4K but was removed during its launch. The new button will allow users to assign a shortcut or a TV input for the button for easier access.

As of writing, Walmart has yet to announce when the backlit remote will be available to everyone. Customers could wait a little bit more than usual to ensure that they'll get the backlit remote.
