Humane is seeing a massive rate of returns for its flagship AI Pin wearable device, which it only started to sell last April, according to a report by The Verge. This finding is based on a comparison of its selling rate from May to August, with users returning the product faster. The comparison shows the weakening performance of the product in the market since its controversial debut.

A total of 10,000 AI Pins and accessories were sold by the company since its release, but it was revealed that only 7,000 units are yet to be returned.

It has also been reported that Humane received an order of 1,000 AI Pins which were immediately canceled before the company had the chance to ship it.

Humane and its AI Pin Wearable Controversy

The company known as Humane is famous for being made up of former Apple employees, who created the startup which centers on different types of wearable experiences for users. Initially, it focused on its advanced laser technology that boasted of its capabilities to turn anything into a display. It has been reported previously of the development of a pair of AR glasses for Android.

However, the company is now focused on the AI Pin, a new kind of wearable that is mostly added to one's clothing, that focuses on generative AI features. However, it could also display media through its projector feature thanks to Humane's laser technology. It is likewise equipped with a camera lens that could capture images and videos on the go.

Despite these advanced promises of a wearable AI, the actual product did not deliver, according to its users who have since returned the pin to the company. Users are reportedly likewise unhappy with the company's monthly subscription requirement.

It remains to be seen if other units of the AI Pin will be returned to Humane by its unsatisfied customers.
