Sony Togari leaks as Xperia Z Ultra: Prepping for June 25 debut ?

For long, Sony was rumored to be working on a colossal smartphone that will tout a 6.44-inch display. Now word's on the street that the Japanese company will call the phablet Sony Xperia Z Ultra and not Xperia Togari as previously suggested, and the device could launch early as June 25.

The latest information is courtesy of the XperiaBlog, which cites anonymous "sources."

According to the XperiaBlog's sources, "Sony Mobile will shortly be announcing the Xperia Z Ultra, which up until now has been referred to by its codename 'Togari'. A trusted source has spilt some key details about the handset."

The site's sources have also revealed that the Xperia Z Ultra or Xperia ZU will sport a mammoth 6.44-inch Full HD display with Triluminos technology, which provides richer colors. The phablet will apparently also feature "a new type of touch screen sensor that will allow input from either a stylus, pencil or pretty much anything.

The phablet will also boast an 8-megapixel primary camera and not a 13-megapixel one as previously speculated. Apparently, the 13-megapixels one posed some issues.

According to VR-Zone's sources, the Xperia ZU will reportedly also pack in the X-Reality Engine, which is an upgrade to the older Mobile Bravia Engine 2. This engine that will apparently "enhance the color and contrast of your images and videos even better than the Bravia Engine does."

Sony's first-ever phablet will also house the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, which is clocked at 2.3GHz.

Moreover, the Xperia Z Ultra will apparently be water- and dust-proof and have an IP58 certification, making it water resistant for up to 1 meter (30 minutes). The phablet will apparently take on Samsung's impending Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Mega line-up of handsets.

Sony is yet to confirm that it will be launching the Xperia Z Ultra on June 25. However, considering Sony has a press event in Germany on the said date, chances are high that the Xperia Z Ultra may indeed make its debut on June 25 as rumored.
