Instead of seeing the actual face of a person while using VR headgear, a known Apple leaker revealed that the Apple VR headgear will allegedly include a Memoji FaceTime feature as well as a SharePlay experience.
Aside from this, there are other rumors to watch out for, including the speculations that the headgear would allow users to type text in the air.
Apple VR Rumors: Memoji FaceTime, SharePlay Included
AppleInsider reported that rumors about the Apple VR and AR headset might use Memojis to deliver an excellent FaceTime experience, while SharePlay offers a collaborative encounter in the virtual environment.
Apple's headgear is being portrayed as a high-end head-mounted device that might offer consumers new VR and AR experiences, according to rumors and speculations. Apple may rely on notions it currently employs in other goods and services when employing the headset for communication.
Making a video call using the headset is unlikely due to the fact that FaceTime requires a camera for video calling.
In the Bloomberg's "Power On" email acquired by AppleInsider on Sunday, popular Apple leaker Mark Gurman speculates that the device may use Memojis to get around the difficulty.
For those those wondering what Memojis are, the Cupertino-based technology company explained that users may make a Memoji that reflects their personality and mood, and then send it over Messages or FaceTime. Aside from this, Apple users may also make an animated Memoji that uses their voice and replicates facial emotions if they have a compatible iPhone or iPad Pro.
Moreover, Gurman also speculates in the said newsletter that while using the VR headsets, users may find themselves in a virtual reality meeting room with dozens of other people. Additionally, he further emphasized that instead of seeing other user's face on screen, Apple VR users will see 3D replicas of them which are their Memojis.
In relation to this, since Gurman believes the headset will be able to detect a user's facial emotions in real time, the technology should deliver a "pretty lifelike" experience, similar to the iOS version of Memoji.
Along with the announcement of Apple VR Memoji FaceTime, the Bloomberg reporter also expects that this headgear would also be used by group of people, adding that the heavy use of SharePlay Experience will benefit most people who enjoys sharing contents together.
Other Rumors About the VR Headgear
In another statement of Mark Gurman through Tom's Guide, the headgear will incorporate external cameras, which are presently being used to test functions such as hand-tracking and motion control. One aspect of this would be the ability to use a virtual keyboard to compose texts in the air.
Meanwhile, The Information also added to the Apple VR leaks that this will include 12 tracking cameras that will transmit data to two 8K monitors in front of the user's eyes.
To keep everything running, Gurman added that a huge amount of electricity would be required, stating that the headset will use Apple's "most sophisticated and powerful CPUs." Amusingly, the processor inside Apple's VR headgear will be more powerful than the recently released M1 Mac chip.
With regards to the price, The Information reported that Apple's virtual reality headset will cost up to $3,000, while Gurman speculates the headset to cost over $2,000.
The price is meant to reflect the headset's hardware, which might include the Apple M1 Pro chip, a longer development period, and the normal extra markup associated with Apple products.
Despite these leaks, it is worth noting that Apple did not release an official statement yet, confirming these rumored specs and price.
