Samsung has released six Galaxy S4 variants since the smartphone's launch and it will reportedly follow a similar pattern with the Galaxy Note 3.
The company has never been shy about flooding the market with smartphones. Samsung believes that consumers want choices in their smartphones, and so far it proved more than happy to oblige. With more choices in mind, the company has recently started creating a series of spin-off smartphones from its flagship devices. When it announced the Galaxy S4, Samsung shipped the smartphone in two models - one with Samsung's octa-core Exynos processor and another with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Shortly after the smartphone's launch, rumors began to surface claiming the company would release more variants of the S4. The rumors were confirmed when the S4 Mini, S4 Active, S4 Zoom, and S4 LTE-Advanced were later officially announced by the company.
A new report claims Samsung will use the same scheme with its upcoming Galaxy Note 3 phablet. According to sources, Samsung will offer the phablet in four different models. The devices will be slightly different and will range from a flagship model down to a low-cost Galaxy Note 3. The source further claims that the company's flagship Galaxy Note 3 will be a "limited-edition" device. The phablet will be built out of "high-quality materials" to justify its price, most likely aluminum. The smartphone will also include a shatterproof Super AMOLED display.
The three other variants will all reportedly embody Samsung's love of plastic for their cases. The high-end model of the three phablets will reportedly use an AMOLED display and pack in a 13-megapixel rear camera. The source claims the next variant will include a 13-megapixel camera and an LCD screen, while the entry-level Note 3 will also use an LCD display and but a lower 8-megapixel camera.
Recent rumors also suggested that Samsung will a Super AMOLED display in its flagship phablet, while other speculation indicated that the Galaxy Note 3 would ship with an LCD display. This could lend some credit to this latest rumor, but it's always best to take this kind of news with a huge grain of salt.
