Samsung Galaxy Note 3: Specs leak 3GB of RAM will make it one powerful phablet

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Note 3 at IFA in September. A new report claims that the company plans on making the Note 3 a very powerful phablet by becoming the first smartphone to ship with 3GB of RAM.

Samsung will apparently be setting the stakes very high when it launches its upcoming Galaxy Note 3. The smartphone will be one of the most anticipated phablets of 2013 and the company hopes it will continue its reign of being king of the phablet world. Samsung will need to pack in more features and high-end specs if it wants to retain the title.

A new report claims the company plans on using 3GB of RAM in the Galaxy Note 3. This will allow the smartphone to run very fast and smooth, the ability to work with more complex games and apps, be more powerful, and provide an overall better user experience.

The report also claims that LG will follow in Samsung's footsteps by launching its rumored LG G2 to match the Note 3 and ship with 3GB of RAM. Up until this point, almost every high end Android smartphone and tablet has been shipping with 2GB of RAM, so we should expect this to eventually become the norm for high-end Android smartphones and tablets.

The Galaxy Note 3 is expected to feature a 5.7 or 6.99-inch Super AMOLED display. It will be powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdgragon 800 Pro processor, 16GB, 32, or 64GB of internal storage and include 3GB of RAM. The Note 3 will include possibly the same 13-megapixel camera found on the Galaxy S4 or possibly opt for a new camera designed for the handset. A 2-megapixel front-facing camera is expected to be included for pictures and video calling. The Note 3 will also probably use a feature that debuted in the Galaxy S4 called "Dual Shot", which allows users to use both cameras on the smartphone simultaneously and lets you include yourself into pictures or videos you are taking with the handset.

The Note 3 is expected to run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Samsung's Nature UX user interface. Samsung has also been rumored to be adding improved S-Pen support and some new features pertaining to the smartphone's Stylus.

We'll have to wait until September to see how this all plays out. It's pretty exciting that we are at a time when 3GB of RAM are now being included in our smartphones, a number that was reserved for higher-end computers a decade ago.
