Call of Duty players may remember the times when the game's developers add in some things to spice things up in a game. Who wouldn't forget the time when George A. Romero guest-starred on the map Call of the Dead on the Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops? Or that time when John Rambo appeared as a playable character for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War?
Now, Call of Duty developer Activision is planning to add a much-beloved character that recently went toe-to-toe against a giant ape on the big screen.
Activision recently teased the addition of a certain kaiju in Call of Duty's season 3 announcement on Call of Duty's official Twitter page by adding an audio recording of a "mysterious frequency" at the end of the clip.
The game developer didn't disclose when it would reveal what the recording was about on its post.
Godzilla's Visit Details
Call of Duty's season 3 announcement implied that the Nazis woke something up after setting off a Nebula Bomb on Caldera Island, with the clip ending with the mysterious frequency partially distorting the trailer while it played. According to an IGN report, the audio recording is quite broken up, but the audio itself suspiciously sounded like Godzilla's roar.
However, that wasn't just Activision's goal in the recording. When the audio recording was run through a spectrogram, the resulting spectrograph spelled out "Monsters are real," per Youtuber PrestigeIsKey's tweet.
Twitter user HeckinBrandon also got the same result when they checked it on Audacity. Meanwhile, Twitter user Bee Aggressive tweeted a link to a Youtube video featuring a looping ORCA sound from Godzilla: King of the Monsters. He also suggested in his tweet that the "mysterious frequency" and Godzilla's orca-like sound from the video are the same.
Comicbook.com reported that rumors about the event mentioned it would be a large-scale one, with Godzilla and his allies and enemies dominating Warzone's Pacific Island. However, it isn't clear if Godzilla would be coming to the Call of Duty franchise alone or with its allies and enemies.
Regardless if Godzilla is coming alone or with friends and enemies, they could be arriving in the Call of Duty scene when season 3 begins for both Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard on April 27.
What Could Godzilla's (Possible) Arrival Mean?
IGN mentioned that Godzilla's inclusion would represent a radical change from its semi-realistic atmosphere, which could be an attempt to imitate Fortnite's success with partnerships with third-party properties like Marvel and Naruto.
Although this isn't the first time Activision featured other characters from third-party properties as previously mentioned at the beginning of this article, this is the first time the game developer would be adding some so far out as adding kaiju like Godzilla in the Call of Duty scene.
Whether players would enjoy the addition or not remains to be seen.
