The "Call of Duty" franchise will soon have another mobile battle royale game.
Game developer Activision recently announced through its Call of Duty website that it would be embarking on an "ambitious mission" to create a AAA battle royale experience that brings the large-scale action of "Call of Duty: Warzone" to players on the go.
The company's announcement follows a tweet from game journalist and "Call of Duty" insider Tom Henderson that Activision is eyeing a "Call of Duty: Warzone" mobile game.
Job Postings for a Mobile Battle Royale Experience
The post describes the resulting game as a large-scale battle royale game built natively for mobile devices built with "cutting-edge technology designed to entertain gamers around the world for many years to come."
As such, the company is inviting professional game-makers, fans, and "genuinely awesome people" to join its team of "mobile veterans" in creating the game.

Activision has already started posting jobs related to this endeavor on its Careers page, ranging from production roles to engineering, design, art, marketing, and more. These jobs include a mobile game designer, UI artist, and Associate Producer.
"We have several incredible opportunities across multiple internal studios, including Solid State Studios, Beenox, Digital Legends, and Demonware," Activision said.
The Game's Details so Far
The company didn't reveal if the game will feature cross-play like "Fornite" or if players will only set their faces against other players like "Apex Legends Mobile," per The Verge.
Although the post didn't mention when the resulting game will be released, Tom Henderson's tweet revealed that Activision has "scoped" the game for 2022.
'Call of Duty: Mobile' 2.0?
Activision already has a successful battle royale game in "Call of Duty: Mobile," Activision's mobile iteration of "Call of Duty."
"Call of Duty: Mobile" lets players play as the franchise's iconic heroes and villains like Captain Price, David and Alex Mason, and Simon "Ghost" Riley, per the game's official website. Although "Call of Duty: Mobile" has the franchise's traditional 5v5 team-based combat, it also has a battle royale mode to cater to the game mode's fans.
However, "Call of Duty" Mobile isn't made by Activision. Instead, that credit goes to Chinese developer TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of Tencent and the studio behind "Pokemon Unite," per Polygon. As such, this game will be Activision's first attempt at a battle royale game.
Activision didn't make it clear in its announcement if the future "Call of Duty: Warzone" mobile game would be an additional game mode to "Call of Duty: Mobile" or if it would be a separate, standalone game of its own.
