Oppo's Samsung Galaxy Z Flip-like foldable smartphone offering could likely see the light of day anytime soon.
Oppo Foldables
The Chinese phone maker Oppo has already released its own version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the flesh of the Oppo Find N.
Despite that, most folks might not have heard of it or have seen it in person. It comes as the tech giant only released it in China, and the Chinese phone maker has been mum about its plans to take it to the international scene.
What sets the Oppo Find N from the flagship clamshell foldable of Samsung is its overall more compact look, giving consumers an alternative choice in the emerging style of mobile devices, as per a news story by Android Authority.
Not to mention that the phone maker tried to make the foldable more accessible for those who do not want to empty their wallets with its affordable price tag.
Oppo's Galaxy Z Flip-Like Foldable
Even if Oppo has yet to announce its plans to take its first-ever foldable smartphone outside of China, there are new rumors about its second offering.
As expected, the next foldable of the Chinese phone maker is none other than a Galaxy Z Flip-like mobile device, which could also compete with the Huawei P50 Pocket.
Android Authority noted in its story that the flip-style phone of Oppo has been mentioned in previous rumors in 2021, but back then, there were not many details about it.
Some even outright dismissed the idea already. Months have passed since the rumors made rounds, but there were no follow-up reports regarding it -- until now.
According to a recent report by GSM Arena, Oppo is rumored to be launching a new smartphone that could go side by side with the offerings of other giant phone makers like Samsung and Huawei.
However, Oppo appears to be working on a flip-style or clamshell foldable device that carries a surprisingly cheaper price tag - similar to how the Find N debuted in December.
Oppo's Flip Phone: Is It Cheaper?
It is worth noting that the current clamshell foldable offerings out there, namely the Huawei P50 Pocket and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, sell for roughly around $1,000.
To be more precise, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 retails for $999 in the United States, which is basically a dollar away from being $1,000. On the other hand, the P50 Pocket costs around $1,292 in China.
Meanwhile, the unnamed flip-style phone of Oppo reportedly sells to the tune of CNY 5,000 or roughly around $715 when directly converted to USD, making it relatively cheaper than what the market offers these days.
