With its convenient, functional use, Google Docs has been further enhanced to become one of the best productivity apps on the web.
A cool new feature, multiple text selection, allows faster, improved editing.
With this feature, Docs users can make multiple text selections within a document. With this, users are able to delete, copy, paste, and format these selections simultaneously, Android Central reported.
The method of selecting text on Google Docs depends on the operating system used. For Windows or Chrome OS computers, select the first section of text and use Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Left/right arrow to make the next selection. For macOS users the combination is Ctrl + ⌘ + Shift + Left/right arrow. From there, you can make your edit or format the selected text.
New Google Docs Feature Ideal for Power Users
The new feature appeals to power users, allowing easier edits of documents at the fastest time possible. Instead of having to edit text one at a time, you're now able to edit multiple sections at the same time.
If you've got a lot of text to format, using this feature will definitely be easier than, say, using the format painter tool that lets you highlight one bit of text and copy its formatting to another. While that tool does make it so you don't have to set each parameter on its own, it could still require a lot more clicking depending on how many pieces of text you're trying to change.
The new feature will be available for all Workspace users, Legacy G Suite Basic and Business users. Google says the new feature will be enabled by default and deployed within 15 days, starting on May 25, so it may not show up right away.
Recently, Google added several new productivity features to Docs, such as revamped dropdown chips and table templates to further enhance workflows.
The update is immediate and requires no action to start using it. However, it might take up to fifteen days to become available across the ecosystem.
The feature is available to all Google Workspace users, which means it will likely be most commonly used in programs such as Google Docs and Google Sheets. It will also be available for G Suite Basic and Business users, Google said. It is also compatible across operating systems, including Mac, Windows, and Chrome OS.
