The recently launched Nokia Lumia 1020 is one of the most popular Windows Phone 8 (WP8) around and a red variant of the handset is now available for pre-order in Poland.
On July 11 this year, Nokia revealed the Lumia 1020 at a press conference in New York. The company announced the handset in three color options: black, white and yellow. Previously, a red render of the handset also leaked online.
Online retailer Komputronik.pl is the first in Poland to offer the Nokia Lumia 1020 for pre-order. The retailer is taking pre-orders for the black, white and red variants of the handset at a price tag of 2949 zl (around $940).
The Lumia 1020 has created quite a buzz thanks to its 41-megapixel rear-facing camera. The red avatar of the handset will attempt to lure more customers to the handset. The predecessor, the Lumia 920, was available in a variety of vibrant colors so customers will hope that the successor is also available in selection of colors.
The red hue for mobile devices seems to be quite popular with OEMs. The Sony Xperia ZL is available in a red color option, while HTC launched its flagship smartphone, the HTC One, initially in two colors but later released the handset in a "Glamour Red" color option in the UK. Some rumors also suggest that the red variant of the HTC One will also head to U.S. carrier Sprint.
Similarly, Samsung also added the "Aurora Red" color to the highly popular Galaxy S4 recently. What's more, speculations are rife that the upcoming budget iPhone may also come in a red color option.
In the U.S., the Lumia 1020 is exclusive to AT&T and the carrier is selling all three colors of the handset. Previous rumors also hint that the red color variant of the handset may also head to AT&T. However, Nokia and AT&T have not confirmed the same.
The Lumia 1020 includes impressive features which can compete with any other WP8 smartphone in its category. A red color option may give consumers another reason to buy the handset.
If you are looking to buy the Lumia 1020, will you wait for the red avatar to launch?
