One of the most popular Colony Sims is coming to video game consoles.
Game developer and distributor Double Eleven recently announced it has partnered with fellow game developer Ludeon Studios to bring the hit PC Colony Sim game Rimworld to gaming consoles in late July.
The game will come in two editions: the standard edition, which contains only the base game, and the Digital Deluxe Edition, which contains one of the game's two expansions.
Rimworld Console Edition Features And Details
Ludeon Studios mentioned in its announcement that the console version of the game, named Rimworld Console Edition, would be the same as its PC counterpart with a few teaks to its control scheme to better fit console controllers through Double Eleven.
"Console players will be right at home as they begin to build their colonies," Ludeon Studios said.
The game is a Colony Sim wherein players take control of three unfortunate colonists whose escape crash-landed in one of the rim worlds of an unknown sovereign state. This rim world can be randomly generated by the game or generated for the player based on certain parameters, such as how much rainfall the planet gets, how hot or cold it is there, and how dense the planet's population is, which affects how many AI-controlled factions.
Players can also choose where in the planet their colonists will land, which can be humid, hot, cold, or temperate, depending on the location.
However, unlike the rim world, players are only somewhat in control of who they play as. Although they can choose who will crash land on the rim world, they cannot create their character.
Nevertheless, the three colonists will be the start of a colony that can grow either through conquest or humanitarian aid.

The colonists and the people players will meet or fight eventually have their personalities and quirks that either benefit or harm the colony, which adds to the game's immersion.
Players will have to take care of the colonists' needs for them to eventually be advanced enough to either build their ship to escape the planet they are on or repair a badly broken one.
However, finding the wrecked ship could be difficult due to the three AI storytellers that set the pace of each game, which players can choose from.
Phoebe Chillax gives a gentle yet increasingly difficult time as the game goes on, while Cassandra Classic offers a tense but balanced experience. Random Random, however, will throw unpredictable challenges to the player which they can either come out stronger or not at all.
The game ends in either the colonists and the people that join them escaping the rim world or when they have all perished due to a variety of reasons, such as disease, starvation, injury, or unfortunate accidents.
Rimworld Console Edition Availability and Price
Rimworld Console Edition will be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on July 29 for $39.99, per Games Press. Interested gamers can preorder the game now and get three-day early access on July 26.
