If you've been eyeing the Verizon exclusive Nokia Lumia 928, you can now get the Windows Phone-powered smartphone for free from the carrier.
Recently, retailer WireFly was offering the smartphone for under a dollar, but now Verizon has bettered the deal and is offering the Lumia 928 for free on a two-year contract.
The Nokia Lumia 928 is a minor upgrade to the AT&T-exclusive Lumia 920 and boasts an improved camera. At the time of launch, Verizon had priced the handset at $99.99 on a two-year contract. It later reduced the price and began offering the smartphone for $49.99 instead.
The Nokia Lumia 928 has seen some price drops in the last few months in a bid to entice more customers. Earlier in June, we reported that Amazon was offering the Lumia 928 for just $29.99. In July, e-retailer Amazon had a stupendous offer where it offered the smartphone for just 99 cents on a two-year contract with Verizon.
The Lumia 928 features a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD and ClearBlack OLED Gorilla Glass display with 1280 x 768 pixels resolution (332ppi). Under the hood, it houses a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Krait processor. The smartphone also packs 32GB of on-board storage and 1GB of RAM.
The NFC-enabled handset has a 2,000 mAh non-removable battery, which supports up to 16 hours of talk time and 25 days of standby time.
The Lumia 928 also touts an 8.7-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash, which is a better balanced solution than the LED flash found on sibling Lumia 920.
To take advantage of the current Verizon deal for the Lumia 928, simply sign-up for a two-year contract with the carrier.
At this juncture it is not known if this is a limited-period offer and if so, for how long it will be available. Verizon is also offering free shipping if you purchase the smartphone from its online store. Alternately, consumers have the option of ordering online and picking up the Lumia 928 in store. Those who want to buy the Lumia 928 off contract will need to shell out $499.99 for the smartphone.
