Facebook is testing an option allowing users to add up to five profiles in a single account.
It changes everything as the policy of the social media giant owned by billionaire Mark Zuckerberg only allows users to have a single identity per account.
It also comes after Facebook Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Zuckerberg, said that the giant social network plans to cater to its younger users, as more and more teens and kids have become hooked on TikTok.
Facebook Tests Five Profiles in a Single Account
A news story by The Verge reports that Facebook now allows some users to create multiple profiles in their accounts as the social network tests a new option.
The news outlet reports that some folks on Facebook could now add four more profiles apart from their original account.
The Verge notes that the new option on Facebook essentially allows its users to create various profiles for varying purposes.
For instance, the main account could specifically be for close friends, while another profile is available to connect with your colleagues at work.
But of course, our lives are not limited to friends and professional life. The other three additional profiles could primarily serve other hobbies and interests. Meanwhile, famous personalities could also interact with their fans in another persona.
The new option that Facebook is currently testing essentially lets its users switch to multiple profiles more easily than ever.
Facebook Confirms New Experimental Feature
The spokesperson of Facebook, Leonard Lam, has confirmed that the renowned tech giant is testing out a new way that allows its users to switch to multiple accounts, according to a recent report by Engadget.
The Facebook spokesperson discloses the new option saying, "we're testing a way for people to have more than one profile tied to a single Facebook account."
Lam further explained that the multiple profiles seek "to help people tailor their experience based on interests and relationships."
On top of that, the spokesperson of the social media giant assured us that the profiles should still comply with the policies of FB.
Lam clarifies that if one of the profiles has violated the policies of the social network, it affects all of the other profiles under the account.

Real Names Optional?
The new multiple profile option also allows users to use another name far from their real one.
It is in stark contrast with the current rules of Facebook, wherein users are required to only use their real names. In some instances, the social media giant even asked for the IDs of its users to prove their identity.
This time, Facebook is more lenient, allowing random names in various profiles. But do note that the new option is still in its testing phase.
