Did You Know an Actual Cat Was the Voice Actor for Stray’s Main Cat-Racter? Meet Lala, The Voice Actor

Cats ... are cute, troublesome, sweet, clingy, and lifelong partners when raised right.

When it comes to video games featuring these feline friends, they are mostly voiced by human voice actors to make them understandable and have a wider range of emotion than just varying meows.

However, that is not the case in the hit indie game Stray.

For the game to come to life, the creator had a cat meow and hiss to bring the main cats in the game to life. That is the story of Lala, the cat that provided their meows and hisses for the game to feel authentic and alive, per Screen Rant.

Stray - A Tale Of Two Cats

Stray is an adventure game featuring the story of a cat's escape from a strange dystopian cyberpunk world full of droids and dangerous creatures to be reunited with its family from which it got separated.

According to the game's Steam page, the main cat will need to be stealthy, nimble, silly, and even annoying to get to escape - something that only a genuine feline could only do.

That is the point where Lala comes in. The cat that gave its meows, purrs, snuffles and growls to the cats featured in Stray was introduced to the world by musician and Twitter user JANKENPOPP on July 21, a few days after the game was finally launched, per Push Square.

Lala is very different from the game's main cat. Where the game's main cat features orange fur, green eyes, and a round face, Lala has yellow eyes, gray fur, and a sharp face. Nevertheless, both cats are very vocal, and it shows.

Lala gave its voice to Stray's various cats, and if you press the button for the main cat to meow many times, you will not only achieve but also hear the many meows Lala did for the game. If you listen closely, the meows Lala gave have varying degrees of adorability and cuteness that no game has business having.

These meows, hisses, and purrs were cutely transformed into the game's many moments that highlight Lala's voice acting.

Lala's voice acting was so cute and authentic that even gamers' cats are glued to the screen while their owners are playing the game, per Twinfinite.

Lala's picture was taken during a Stray cat event at Meow Parlor, which was held by Stray's publisher, Annapurna Interactive, to celebrate the game's release. Unfortunately, the event has already ended. But not to worry -you can still hear Lala meow and purr for you when you play Stray.

Stray Details

Stray is more than just an adventure game; you get to listen to Lala's voice acting. It is also a puzzle RPG that lets you be a cat in a dystopian cyberpunk world. To progress through the game, you'll need to solve more than a few puzzles during your time in the cyberpunk world, per Mashable.

Although the game can be as short as four and a half hours at most, playing through the game is said to guarantee your $30 worth of entertainment and more.
