Nokia has planned an event for Aug. 28 in Moscow (Russia), where the Finnish company is expected to launch a new device.
Nokia has already launched a variety of smartphones this year in all market segments, including a number of top-end smartphones. High-end devices launched in 2013 include the Lumia 925, Lumia 928 and the Lumia 1020.
Quite a few Nokia devices have been rumored in the tech space and the company hasn't announced which handset will take the center stage at the Moscow event.
The company launched the mid-level Lumia 720 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) earlier this year and some rumors point towards the launch of the handset's successor, the Lumia 729, at the event. Previous reports also point that the Lumia 729 may be the Verizon version of the Lumia 720 but neither the carrier nor Nokia have confirmed this. Moreover, it would be rather unlikely to launch a U.S. carrier-based handset in Russia.
Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphones are rapidly gaining popularity in the smartphone space, but there is still no WP8-powered phablet available in the market. Several rumors suggest that Nokia has a WP8 phablet in the pipeline. The company is rumored to launch its phablet to compete with other devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Sony Xperia Z Ultra and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the HTC One Max.
Recently, a few images of a Nokia Windows RT tablet have also leaked online. The 10.1-inch Nokia tablet is also pictured in a red avatar and is expected to run on Windows RT 8.1. The leaked image of the upcoming tablet suggests that the device will head to U.S. carrier Verizon; however, Nokia may first release the tablet in other regions such as Russia, and then introduce the tablet in the U.S.
We don't know if Nokia will surprise us with a new device altogether. Therefore, there is no confirmed information as to which device the company is going to launch at the Aug. 28 event.
The event is just a few days from now, so we have to wait a few more days to see which device Nokia will launch in Moscow.
