New images of HTC One Max give closer look at fingerprint scanner, microSD slot and more

New images of the HTC One Max have leaked. This purported model is headed to China Unicom and includes the rumored fingerprint scanner, dual-SIM, and microSD expansion slot.

HTC is getting ready to announce its first phablet and the company has a few extra tricks up its sleeve to entice customers to choose the HTC One Max over competing phablets. HTC is going to keep everything consumers loved about its flagship HTC One, including its sleek anodized aluminum unibody case, dual-front facing stereo speakers, and UltraPixel camera. As impressive as those features are, the company is going to add a few extra ingredients to make the HTC One Max a phablet powerhouse.

We recently reported that HTC was going to add a fingerprint scanner to the rear case of the HTC One Max. Samsung was also rumored to be adding this feature to its upcoming Galaxy Note 3, but reportedly had to cancel such plans due to supply constraints. New images of the HTC One Max have leaked, once again showing the handset's fingerprint scanner. The images also show a new feature that many HTC One owners and tech critics wished the company included with that handset. The HTC One Max will apparently include a microSD expansion slot at the top right corner of the phablet, below its removable aluminum back cover.

The HTC One Max in the leaked images is reportedly a variant that is headed to China Unicom. This model also includes dual-SIM slots, a popular feature for smartphones in that region. The images also clearly show the pogo pins located on the back of the smartphone that will be used for different dock accessories. While this model is destined for China, other regions, including the U.S. will likely receive a very similar model without dual-SIM slots but retaining the fingerprint scanner, removable back cover to access the microSD expansion slot, and the pogo pins for accessories.

The HTC One Max will reportedly feature a 5.9-inch full HD 1080p display and will be powered by the latest 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It will be offered in two storage capacities, 32GB and 64GB. It will include 2GB of RAM, a microSD expansion slot, HTC's UltraPixel camera and a large 3,200 mAh battery.

HTC is expected to officially announce the HTC One Max in the coming weeks.
