HTC One Max spotted with fingerprint scanner alongside HTC One and HTC One Mini

A new image of the HTC One Max has leaked showing the 6-inch smartphone alongside the HTC One and One Mini. The larger device is also packing a fingerprint scanner.

HTC is diversifying its smartphone lineup by offering a mini version of its flagship smartphone, the HTC One, and is also going in the other direction in terms of size and will soon begin offering a phablet with the upcoming HTC One Max. The company is keeping a very uniformed look to its smartphone lineup, with all models sporting the same unibody aluminum case found on the HTC One. A new image of the HTC One Max has leaked, which shows the phablet alongside the HTC One and HTC One mini. The image also shows what is reportedly a fingerprint scanner on its rear below the camera and a set of pogo pins that will allow the phablet to be used with different accessories.

Now ePrice has posted the new image and new information regarding the HTC One Max. According to the site, its source claims that the black square seen below the camera on the HTC One Max in the above photo is a fingerprint scanner. This is the first time the device has been seen with this rumored feature. Apple is also rumored to be including a fingerprint scanner on the upcoming iPhone 5S and Samsung was expected to include one on the Galaxy Note 3, but reportedly cancelled the feature due to supply constraints. The image also shows three pogo pins, which are used to connect to different accessories.

The site is also reporting that HTC will release the Max in late October. The company was rumored to try and coincide the launch of the phablet with Samsung's Galaxy Note 3. The addition of the fingerprint scanner could be the reason for a later-than-expected launch, but it would also give the Max an exclusive feature in the phablet world by having a fingerprint scanner built in.

The rumored specs of the HTC One Max include a 5.9-inch full HD 1080p display, the latest 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. The device is expected to come in a choice of 32GB or 64GB of internal storage configurations and will be packing HTC's UltraPixel camera. HTC is expected to include a non-removable 3,200 mAh battery.

We'll have to file this in the rumor category for now, but it looks like the phablet market is going to see significantly more action this year.
