iOS 16 Will Not Have the iCloud Shared Photo Library at Launch

Apple will be releasing the iOS 16 this coming September 12. However, it seems that users would have to wait "later this year" for the iCloud Shared Photo Library feature to arrive.

According to Apple Insider, Apple just made an announcement that the iCloud Share Photo Library feature will not be part of iOS 16 when the operating system is released on September 12.

The tech company said that it is delaying the release of the said feature "later this year," as per The Verge.

iCloud Share Photo Library is Listed as 'Coming Later This Year'

The Apple's iCloud Share Photo Library feature allows up to five people to share photos and videos. With this, everyone added as contributors can do collaborations.

The new ‌‌iCloud‌‌ Shared Photo Library feature allows you to create a shared library, and then invite anyone with an Apple device to view the photos.

The feature also allows you to contribute photos to the library. Moreover, it allows you to edit the photos, set your "favorite" images, and add captions.

Once you joined an iCloud Shared Photo Library, you can add previous photos. Adding the photos can be based on a "start date," or the "people in the photos."

According to Apple Insider, the feature allows photos to be shared "directly from Camera." Automatic sharing is also possible when you are nearby with shared library members.

In the "For You" section in Photos, you will also find suggestions for additions to the shared library.

While the tech company initially announced that the feature would be part of the iOS 16, the feature is now listed in the Apple's webpage as "coming later this year."

Moreover, according to Apple Insider, Apple has already removed the iCloud Share Photo Library from the latest iOS 16 betas.

iPad OS 16 Will Not be Released in September 12

To check the feature, just go to Settings, then Photos, and go to Shared Library Set Up. However, you will no longer find it in iOS 16 developer beta nine that was released last September 7.

Apple's iCloud Share Photo Library feature is not similar with Shared Albums in iCloud, as the latter still works "with or without iCloud Photos."

It is possible, though, that the feature may be available in time for the iPadOS 16. However, as per Apple Insider, Apple will not be releasing iPadOS 16 on September 12.

It is likely that the said operating system will be launched upon release of the new iPads, which are reported to arrive later this fall.

Apple has been known to withhold some features during initial release of certain operating systems. When iOS 15 was launched last year, the SharePlay, Universal Control, and better Find My support for AirPods are all missing.

Over the next few months, the company eventually released the said features in "point releases," as per The Verge.

According to The Verge, the delay in the release of Apple's iCloud Share Photo Library feature could be due to iPadOS 16 having its own release date schedule.

The news site reasoned out that it might confuse people why the feature is available in iPhones but not on their iPad or Mac.
