Google Lens Multisearch Feature Will Roll Out to More Users This Year

Earlier this year, Multisearch arrived in the U.S. as a beta. This Google Lens feature allows users to search images and text simultaneously.

Now, according to The Verge, Google will be expanding Multisearch to more than 70 global languages in the coming months. The company made the announcement at its Search On event on Wednesday.

Multisearch in 70 Languages Will Roll Out in the Coming Months

Since its beta launch in April, Multisearch has been available in English globally. The feature lets a user take a picture of an object and search for information about it.

Multisearch is very useful when you want to search for things. It uses Google Lens to search for things that are difficult to find with just text.

The Verge offers an example of looking for a jacket in a different color. Using Multisearch, you just have to open Google Lens and take a photo of the jacket. Afterward, you can use the photo to search.

Google's decision to make the feature available in more languages in the coming months will benefit a lot of people since many will be able to use it in their native language.

In addition to Multisearch, Google also unveiled the Near Me feature in the Search On 2022 event. The tech company previewed this feature at I/O back in May.

According to Engadget, the Near Me feature is expected to arrive in the U.S. in English around this fall.

The Near Me feature is linked to Multisearch. The concept behind this is to make it easier for people to easily discover more information about local businesses.

Multisearch Near Me lets users find things locally. You'll find it particularly useful if you are looking for a certain local item. The search will even point you to a retailer where you can find the item you are looking for.

Multisearch Near Me Helps Users Search for Local Items

According to TechCrunch, Multisearch Near Me's capability is built on "Google's AI-powered" Multisearch feature. Using a combination of photos and text to make custom searches, you could limit your search to what's really related to what you are looking for.

With Multisearch Near Me, the functionality of the feature is expanded. Aside from the particularly useful search results, the feature can point you to a local retailer where you can find the object you are seeking for.

The feature is useful for searching various items, from dresses to home goods, hardware, or even a local dish.

"This new way of searching is really about helping you connect with local businesses, whether you're looking to support your local neighborhood shop or you just need something right away can't wait for the shipping," Cathy Edwards, VP and GM of Search at Google, said.

At Search On 2022 event, other handy-looking search features were introduced by Google as well.

The iOS app of Google will start adding shortcuts under the search bar. It should be able to translate text with your camera. Another thing that this new feature can do is allow you to hum as you search for a song.

According to Google, these new handy search features will roll out beginning Wednesday.
