Nokia Lumia 1520 launch reportedly pushed back to October

Recent reports suggest that Nokia Lumia 1520 (Bandit) may now launch in October instead of late September.

Rumors of the Lumia 1520 have been very rampant in the last few weeks, suggesting that the handset may make its appearance sooner rather than later. Previous reports claimed that Nokia may launch the phablet at an event on Sept. 26 - 27; however, new information now suggest that the launch date has been pushed back a month to Oct. 22.

"According to several sources, Bandit launch was pushed back. Could be 10/22," per @evleaks.

The Finnish company has not yet announced its plans to launch the Lumia 1520 but customers will be happy enough to get their hands on the upcoming Windows Phone 8 (WP8) phablet as soon as possible.

"The Lumia 1520 along with Nokia's tablet were expected to be revealed later this month in New York City, but Windows Phone Central has heard this event was cancelled. It would make sense for Nokia to announce the Lumia 1520 in late October with a two week lead before an actual release. That is how the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925 were recently handled too," reports WPCentral.

Images of the Nokia Lumia 1520 have been leaking very frequently as of late, giving us a glimpse into the phablet's design. Previous reports suggested that the Lumia 1520 will be available in the U.S. exclusively via AT&T; however, a recent image of the Nokia phablet showed the smartphone in a white color with Verizon branding, indicating that Nokia could launch different versions of the handset for different carriers in the U.S.

Currently, the Nokia Lumia 625 is the biggest WP8 smartphone with a 4.7-inch display. The Lumia 1520 is expected to sport a massive 6-inch display with 1080p resolution, which would make it the biggest WP8 smartphone at launch.

Nokia will try to deploy the best hardware specifications and software features in the Lumia 1520 in order to compete successfully with rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Sony Xperia Z Ultra and the upcoming HTC One Max.

However, it remains to be seen if the upcoming Nokia Lumia 1520 is able to attract many customers and create a loyal customer base for itself.
