Apple Might Not Give The iPhone 15 Pro a Main Camera Upgrade

Apple is coming out with the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which will bring exclusive features for its users next year.

However, rumors say that Apple's release for next year might not get its 8P lens due to the company's goal of differentiating their models from non-Pros, 9to5 Mac writes.

8P For The iPhone 15 Pro May Not Be An Option At All

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that the new iPhone 15 Pro will not get the 8P camera, an eight-plastic lens feature that improves image quality for wide-angle cameras.

This 8P lens is what will supposedly give the iPhone 15 Pro an optical edge over the iPhone 14 Pro, but Apple might stick to 7P instead, WCCF Tech reports.

The company says that there are definitely pros and cons to adding elements to the iPhone's lens, which is why there could still be a bigger change in the works for the iPhone 15 Pro Max instead.

According to Kuo, the iPhone 15 Pro Max might get a new periscope lens, which will be exclusive to the larger screen version of the iPhone 15 Pro.

This new iPhone Pro Max with a periscope camera might be called the iPhone 15 Ultra, and it will have a tailor-made lens that would give the device access to levels of zoom.

This technology relies on a prism to reflect light to multiple lenses at a wide angle, making the length of the iPhone 15 Pro's lens longer than that of the iPhone 14.

The periscope lens's optical zoom will allow up to 5 to 10x increase on the scope of the iPhone 15 Ultra's camera, WCCF Tech says.

Forbes believes that the switch to a periscope lens for Pro Max models is in accordance with European Union's law that requires all smartphones to use USB-C connectors for all models.

According to Laptop Mag, Apple's new flagship smartphone might launch in September 2023 and is expected to sell at around $1,099.

What Else Is There To Know About The 2023 iPhone 15

Mac Rumors reveals that the new iPhone 15 Ultra might be Apple's highest-end version of the iPhone, potentially replacing iPhone 14 Pro Max.

With this, Ultra is reportedly coming with a similar look to the iPhone 14 models, but it will have Dynamic Island technology in a no-notch design.

Ultra can also feature solid-state volume and power buttons that use haptic feedback to mimic the feel of a button, like the home button for the iPhone 7.

This solid-state design can protect the iPhone 15 Ultra against water ingress and can introduce additional Taptic engines at the sides of the device.

However, unlike other iPhone models, Ultra might not get Touch ID technology but will continue functioning with a Face ID feature.

Laptop Mag also believes that the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra will have an A17 Bionic processor that can boost its performance by up to 10-15%.

This chip, built on a next-generation 3-nanometer node, is also believed to reduce the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max Ultra's power consumption by up to 30%, Mac Rumors reports.
