iPhone 15 Models Will Reportedly Have Dynamic Island — How About ProMotion Displays?

Apple may be using one of the iPhone 14 Pro's features for all its iPhones moving forward.

The Cupertino-based tech giant is reportedly planning on enabling all its iPhone 15 models to use the iPhone 14 Pro's Dynamic Island display, per a tweet from display analyst Ross Young.

On the other hand, Young also mentioned that Apple could be considering keeping its ProMotion 120Hz display technology exclusive to Pro variants because of supply chain issues.

iPhone 15 Dynamic Island Display Details

Young mentioned in his tweet to technology journalist Gordon Kelly that the iPhone 14 Pro's Dynamic Island display will also be present in all iPhone 15 models. However, he didn't mention Apple's reasoning for doing so.

If you're unfamiliar with the display, the iPhone 14 Pro's Dynamic Island display is a pill-shaped area around the Face ID sensors and front camera. It can display system alerts like incoming phone calls and the Face ID authentication prompt, providing users with easier access to notifications and controls, per Apple and MacRumors.

Although Young didn't mention why Apple wants its Dynamic Island display on every iPhone 15 model, it could be due to the feature's popularity with the masses. A separate MacRumours article mentioned that iPhone 14 Pro users were praising its addition, calling it "a good reason to get the iPhone 14 Pro and "the best design work from Apple in years."

MacStories and Club MacStories founder and editor-in-chief Federico Viticci mentioned in a tweet about the feature that it explains much of Apple's recent design for its iOS devices, saying that the company was "playing the long game."

Meanwhile, tech info leaker Alvin mentioned on his Twitter page that although the display isn't the best solution to replace the notch Apple uses for its front camera, it is "one step ahead of older iPhones."

With this much support for the new feature, Apple could capitalize on its popularity by using it on every iPhone device it develops moving forward. This fact is especially true, considering the company is not planning on removing its front camera notch, or at least a form of it, anytime soon, per Newsweek.

Apple ProMotion 120Hz Display Exclusivity Details

Young also mentioned in his tweet that Apple is reportedly planning on making its ProMotion 120Hz display technology exclusive to the Pro variants of future iPhone models.

He mentioned that the company's supply chain "couldn't support" the feature on more affordable models, probably due to some issues in it.

Aside from being a convenient way of solving the supply chain issue on Apple's end, the exclusivity of the 120Hz display to Pro variants of future iPhones could also be a marketing ploy to have more people get them, at lesat until the iPhone 16, according to Apple Insider.

Apple's ProMotion 120Hz display technology, according to Trusted Reviews, offers double the refresh rate of phones with the standard 60Hz refresh rate. This higher refresh rate means that users can expect "smoother scrolling, improved responsiveness, and better gaming performance."

However, whether a user needs that extra 60Hz refresh rate is up to them to decide.
