Fortnite Adds Doom Slayer, Geralt of Rivia, Dirt Bikes in Fourth Chapter

Fortnite's fourth chapter is bringing a lot of new additions to the game.

Epic Games recently released the first season of Fortnite's fourth chapter, with it bringing new maps, modes of transportation, and two new skins to enjoy.

The fourth chapter also brings a new way for players to overcome physical obstacles while chasing players around and a new mechanic to keep things interesting.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Main Additions

Epic Games mentioned in its announcement that the main additions to the game come in the form of Reality Augments, capture points, and its use of Unreal Engine 5.

Let's start with Reality Augments. These power-ups of some sort come at intervals in a match, though Epic did not say when this will happen. Regardless, these augments can be collected from defeated opponents and will last until the match's end or when players are defeated.

While Epic did not say if it will add more Reality Augments in the future, it did release five of them for the game's fourth chapter:

  1. The "Light Fingers" lets players reload weapons using light ammo reload faster,
  2. The "Mechanical Archer" gives players a Mechanical Explosive Bow and Mechanical Shockwave Bow for them to use
  3. "Aerialist" Reality Augment grants players the chance to redeploy their glider for the entire match
  4. "Supercharged" lets players' commandeered vehicles consume no fuel with increased health
  5. "Soaring Sprints" gives players high jump heights with lower gravity

Players initially have two Reality Augments at the start of a match and can reroll them to get their favorite combo, though Epic didn't specify how.

Aside from Reality Augments, players playing within a squad can now plant their banner at a place of interest (POI) capture for them to locate unclaimed chests and opponents within that POI.

However, they must stay at a POI's capture point long enough to plant their banner and reveal unclaimed chests and opponents.

The POIs also have "hot spots" at the beginning of a match that is filled with flying drones containing high-quality weapons. Shooting as many of them as possible can grant you quick access to excellent weapons.

last but not least is Epic Games' use of Unreal Engine 5's "newest, most innovative features" - Temporal Anti-Aliasing through Unreal Engine 5.1, allowing players to experience Fortnite's maps with higher-quality visuals at higher framerates.

Engadget reports that players can expect ray-traced reflections on glossy materials and water with the new Temporal Anti-Aliasing feature from Unreal Engine 5.1.

Fortnite Chapter 4 New Gameplay Additions

As for the fourth chapter's other additions, it also added new weapons, maps, mechanics, Battle Pass rewards, and game-changing provisions that give players an edge in the game.

For the game's Battle pass, players can unlock two new skins from the Doom and the Witcher franchises. Needless to say, players can play as the Doom Slayer or the White Wolf himself, Geralt of Rivia in their various matches.

The game's new maps are medieval-based, with maps such as The Citadel, Anvil Square, and Brutal Bastion being inspired by medieval castles and villages.

Epic also added a countryside-inspired map by the name of Frenzy Field for players to explore during their matches.

Dirt bikes are also now available to ride on in the game along with the mechanics necessary to perform sick tricks mid-air.

The new provisions give players' characters a temporary boost in their performance and even some health.

  • Slap Berries provide some health and temporary energy regen to sprint longer
  • Slap Juice grants more health and a longer temporary energy regen
  • Sky Jellies give a bounce effect and effective health

Fortnite's fourth chapter also comes with the ability for players to hurdle over or onto physical obstacles in the game to allow them to easily stay with their target.
