Meta Quest Pro Releases New Update Including Mixed Reality Screen Recordings

Meta Quest Pro's first software update combines the elements of the real world and virtual reality by letting users record their mixed reality screens while using the app.

Aside from this, there is also a background audio playback feature that will let users load a browser version of the streaming service in the headset, The Verge writes.

The V47 Update Adds Mixed Reality Capture And Background Audio Playback

The Meta Quest Pro is a virtual reality headset that offers a range of features for VR enthusiasts, which requires a $1,500 investment in the hardware.

New to Meta is the Mixed Reality Screen Recording, which does not require any setting changes and an update will just be installed, Engadget writes.

To record a mixed reality video, users will only have to pull up the headset's Quick Action Bar to launch the camera, and tap the Record Video option.

It also adds another update that lets users stream audio from the headset browser or any 2D panel app while playing a game.

This lets players listen to music and podcasts while in a chill virtual reality setting, such as when playing golf, fishing, or meditating.

According to The Verge, there are also minor updates coming to the Meta Quest Pro aside from these two, like letting the users see themselves in a mirror when changing their avatar's look.

With this, the tech giant also redesigned their mobile iOS and Android apps by making it easier to see a friend when they are online.

Moreover, it has adopted a widget-like look that is easier to access in case users want to show others what they see in the headset while wearing it.

The Meta Quest mobile app will now also make users' wish lists public to send to friends and family, Engadget reports.

Meta Provide More Detailed Descriptions Of The Updates

According to Oculus, the easiest way to find out if the updates are any good is to load the update to take advantage of a few new Meta Quest Pro features.

However, as there are many speculations and reports on what these updates truly mean, in a blog, Meta Quest explains the details of the features that come with the update.

First, the Background Audio Playback feature is a much-awaited feature for multi-taking users who love to work with music on, or to decompress with a podcast while playing on the Meta Quest Pro.

The Mixed Reality Capture, meanwhile, is a screen recording tool that lets users caption cool moments they encountered in the mixed reality realm.

It can be remembered that previously, using the capture feature on the Meta Quest Pro will only reveal a black background, but the new update now lets people see how the VR world is experienced.

Perfect for the holidays, Meta also incorporated a shareable wishlist, which will be public on the Wishlist Tab on the Meta Quest Store and can also be purchased with a Meta Quest digital gift card.

Lastly, Meta Quest Pro is putting avatar mirrors on the Horizon Home, which will enable users to quickly change the avatar's look in real-time, Oculus says.
