2022 is fast approaching the end of its days, but while it gave us some pretty bad things to think about, it also gave us something to binge-watch on our favorite streaming services.
Real-life Serial killers and lawbreakers have been a fascination of every streaming service in 2022, with many of them producing documentaries that shows how they lived their ives and commit their crimes, but which of them are worth watching?
Here are some true crime documentaies you may want to watch before 2022 ends.
Dahmer- Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story
Jeffrey Dahmer, also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, is a serial killer that took the lives of 17 boys and young men, who he either ate or desecrated through necrophilia, per the Encyclopaedia Britannica.
The interesting part of his murder spree is that he was able to avoid authorities hunting him down until July 22, 1991 - 13 years of impunity and crime.
Netflix's true crime documentary based on Dahmer's life and murder spree showed how he did those murders and how he got away with them during those 13 years on the run.
The documentary only has ten episodes and one season.
Black Bird
One of the best true crime documentaries from Apple TV+, "Black Bird" tells the true story of Jimmy Keene, a former athlete serving ten years without parole for dealing cocaine but was offered the deal of a lifetime.
If he could get a confession from suspected killer Larry Hall, he could walk out of jail and be free.
Whether Keene gets the confession he needs to be free or not can be witnessed in this true crime documentary.
"Black Bird" has two episodes and one season as of the writing of this article.
The Most Hated Man On The Internet
Another Netflix docuseries but still just as recent as "Dahmer," "The Most Hated Man on the Internet" shows the audience the story of the rise and downfall of IsAnyoneUp.com creator Hunter Moore, who previously uploaded revenge porn to the website in question and brought its concept to the mainstream.
The docuseries is told from the perspective of a woman who stood up to Moore after her daughter's sensitive photos were posted on his website, per IMDb.
As of the writing of this article, the docuseries comprises a single season made up of three episodes.
Scream: The True Story
Many people have properly heard of the "Scream" movie franchise that featured a serial killer committing crimes inspired by the slasher films of the past.
However, not everyone knows that the movie franchise is based on or at least inspired by a real-life killer that brought the movies to life even before they were shown in theaters.
The Discovery+ docuseries features a paranormal investigator and a psychic medium in their efforts to contact the spirit of the Gainesville Ripper, also known as the serial killer Danny Rolling, per TV Insider.
Unlike the other entries in this list, "Scream: The True Story" only has a single episode.
We Need To Talk About Cosby
Bill Cosby may have been a popular actor, but what he did during his career opposes everything his acting career was building up to up until his misdeeds were made public.
"We need to Talk About Cosby" is a four-part documentary on Showtime that explores the once-famous actor's life and work, including his actions against his influence through interviews with comedians, cultural commentators, journalists, and those who share their personal encounters with him, per Rotten Tomatoes.
It also attempts to reconcile everything the public once knew about Cosby and the thing we now know about him.
