The film and video game industry has lost a brilliant actress. Annie Wersching both voiced and acted for the character of Tess in The Last of Us. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and continued to work until she died at the age of 45.
Those Who Knew Wersching
The actress left behind a husband and three sons. Her husband Stephen Full expressed that she left a hole in the soul of their family the day she died, but that she left them the tools to fill it. He also said that Wersching found wonder in the simplest moment.
Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann also grieved the death of the actress. Druckmann called her a dear friend and said that we lost a beautiful artist and human being. He then proceeded to say that his heart is shattered and his thoughts were with the loved ones she left behind.
"Supernatural" creator Erik Kripke also took to Twitter to say her passing was heartbreaking, and that she was kind, brilliant, and full of life. Kripke said that he cast her in every show he made and that he regrets not working with her one more time.
A GoFundMe has been set up for Wersching's family, which is for her boys, and also for his husband so he could grieve without the pressure of going to work, as mentioned in Kotaku. The page noted that Annie loved her boys, and the fundraiser would help take care of them.
Many of her former co-stars have been helping with the fundraising campaign. Paul Wesley, who played Stefan Salvatore in "The Vampire Diaries," shared the link to the GoFundMe page to help out, and said that he was lucky enough to know her.
Abigail Spencer, a former cast in "Timeless," also encouraged the show's fanbase to donate whatever theft can to help out Annie's family as they transition through the very painful time. She expressed that Wersching will be deeply missed.
Alexi Hawley, the showrunner for "The Rookie" also mourned the death of the actress, who played Rosalind Dyer in the show from 2019 to 2022. Hawley said she was a part of "The Rookie" family, and also mentioned donating if people were able.
Notable Appearances
Wersching had a successful career before she passed. She appeared in many films and took part in voicing an important character in Naughty Dog's video game. For one, she played Renee Walker in the seventh and eighth seasons of the series "24."
She played Amelia Joffe on "General Hospital" back in 2007. She also played Lily Salvatore in the famous show "The Vampire Diaries," who is the long-lost mother of the two brothers, Stefan Salvatore and Damon Salvatore.
She made appearances in other shows like "Bosch" and Kripke's "Timeless." One of her final roles was on "Star Trek: Picard" as the Borg Queen, as mentioned in US Magazine, which isn't her first time on the franchise as she did a gig on "Star Trek: Enterprise" back in 2002.
