Apple has some back-to-school offers students and their parents might appreciate.
The Cupertino-based tech giant recently announced it is releasing its new 15-inch MacBookAir, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro powered by its own silicon, providing students with devices that could help them in their academic pursuits.
Apple added that purchases of these devices with education pricing through Apple Retail are eligible for a $150 Apple Gift Card.
Apple New Mac Device Details
Apple mentioned in its announcement that its new 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro are now available for purchase, with all of them being powered by its new M2 chip, which provides a faster and better experience than its predecessor, the M1.
The company's 15-inch MacBook Air comes with a 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display, up to 18 hours of battery life (depending on its settings, usage, and other factors), and a silent, fanless design. It also comes equipped with an all-new six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio, giving an immersive audio experience to users; a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and MagSafe charging capabilities are also available in the device.
Meanwhile, Apple describes the new Mac Studio as a "performance powerhouse compact design" thanks to the M2 Max and the new M2 Ultra chip within it and its compact design. The company claims it's capable of delivering significant boosts in performance and connectivity, despite its compact design.
The new M2-equipped Mac Studio features up to 192GB of unified memory - a 50% increase to its predecessor - and six times the speed of the most powerful Intel-based 27-inch iMac. It is also three times faster than the previous generation's M1 Ultra-equipped Mac Studio.
Lastly, Apple's new Mac Pro aims to provide the power, speed, and performance the M2 Ultra chip provides with the versatility of PCIe expansion for the demanding workflows that need it. As such, users can experience up to thrice the speed of the previous-generation Intel-based Mac Pro and 192GB of unified memory, giving students the ability to tackle difficult and demanding workloads other systems couldn't handle.
Apple Student Benefits
Although Apple's new devices are powerful, they are also costly, especially for students who don't have or earn enough to purchase them. For context, the 15-inch MacBook Air starts with a $1,299 price tag, while the Mac Studio And Mac Pro starts at $1,999 and 6,999, respectively.
To alleviate students' concerns, Apple mentioned that students can save money by purchasing any of these devices with Apple's College Student Offer, giving them an Apple Gift Card of up to $150 along with a 20% discount on AppleCare and three months of Apple Music and Apple TV+ for free.
They also get the student rate of just $5.99 for both Apple Music and TV+ after the three-month free trial ends. These offers are exclusively available at Apple Retail in-stores and online.
Apple's College Student Offer is only available to current and newly accepted college students and their parents, faculty, staff, and home-school teachers of all grade levels.
