Fans of the Red Dead Redemption franchise might be happy to know that the original 2010 release is coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Players can now play both of the wild west-themed games on the PlayStation 4 back-to-back if they choose to.
Red Dead Redemption on PS4, Switch
Rockstar Games is making the game available on both the PS5 predecessor and the Nintendo handheld console. However, it must not be mistaken for a remastered version. It is simply being launched on the mentioned consoles as its original 2010 release.
Anyone can purchase the game by August 17th when it goes on sale, but that's only the digital version. For those who wish to have a disc copy of the game, they will have to wait until October 13th. Both versions will come with the Undead Nightmare DLC.
The bundle will cost $50, which is a bit high considering that it's not really a remastered version, as pointed out by Tech Crunch. Since it will be released as is, players shouldn't expect the game to have a higher frame rate or better resolution than when it was first released.
Red Dead Redemption serves as a sequel to Red Dead Redemption II, even though it was technically released first. The events on the 2010 release follow John Marston and his mission to locate some of the old members of the gang that players meet in RDR2.
For people who plan on playing one game after the other, it will only be possible on the PS4 console since the second game is not yet available on Nintendo Switch. The first game also does not have a native PS5 release.
There are rumors that Rockstar is working on Red Dead Redemption II for Nintendo Switch but right now, that's all it is, a rumor. The video game studio is pretty busy with its other games like the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI.
It's also possible that RDR2 won't be able to run on the handheld console, considering that it is quite demanding when it comes to hardware requirements. Right now, all we can look forward to from Rockstar Games is the release of the latest GTA game.
News from the GTA VI Development
Although we're not getting much from the Red Dead Redemption franchise, that just means that Rockstar Games is busy working on GTA VI to make it better. With the latest reports, it looks like the game will have huge changes in the police and how they interact with the player.
According to ComicBook, the police's response to crimes will be more realistic. For one, they will not just appear out of nowhere like the previous games. Just as it is in real life, they will take a while before they arrive at the crime scene.
Players may also have the option of surrendering to the authorities as opposed to them just shooting on sight. Of course, that will also depend on the severity of the crime. If you're on a five-star wanted level, the police will take extreme measures, which is realistic in terms of accuracy.
