Genshin Impact’s First Cryo Catalyst User Could Arrive at 4.1 Update

Genshin Impact may finally get its first cryo catalyst user.

A recently uploaded video on the r/Geshin_Impact_Leaks subreddit revealed that the game's first cryo catalyst user will be available in-game through its limited-time event banner for its 4.1 update.

Unfortunately, the video didn't show the abilities of the character in question.

Genshin Impact's First Cryo Catalyst User

Genshin Impact's character roster features a wide variety of characters to play as, provided that players already acquired them. According to Android Police, there are 71 playable characters as of the game's 4.0 update.

The game's 4.0 update brought newcomers Lyney and Lynette, Fontanians who wield the bow and sword, respectively, to the game. However, their other sibling, the claymore-wielding Freminet, won't be playable until its second phase.

However, the game has yet to feature a cryo catalyst user since its release. While there were rumors that the Knights of Favonius' Front-line Land Surveyor, Mika, would be the first cryo catalyst user, Hoyoverse debunked it on his release. While he does utilize cryo-based powers, he wields a polearm instead of a catalyst.

This time, however, HoYoverse seems determined to fill this long-standing niche with one of its upcoming characters, Wriothesley. The video uploaded on the r/Geshin_Impact_Leaks subreddit showed that Wriothesley is a cryo catalyst user who utilizes cryo-imbued punches (seemingly based on boxing) in a similar manner to Inazuma's anemo-wielding Shikanoin Heizou.

Because of Wriothesley's power, Genshin Impact players can soon use his cryo-based powers to prime certain elemental reactions. The video shows Wriothesley with Shenhe (cryo support), Xiangling (pyro support), and what seems to be a C6 Bennett (pyro healer-augmenter), providing the player with damaging Melt reactions.

While the damage numbers shown in the video look big, the player used a private server, meaning that the damage numbers might not be completely accurate once HoYoverse releases Wriothesley, per Game Rant. Thankfully, Genshin Impact players don't need to wait long to try his kit out.

If this and previous leaks remain accurate, Wriothesley will be a five-star character HoYoverse will offer in one of Genshin Impact's limited-time event banners for its 4.1 update. As such, players interested in getting Genshin Impact's first cryo catalyst character may want to save/buy as many primogems as they can during the game's 4.0 update.

What else To Expect In Genshin Impact's 4.1 Update

Aside from Wriothesley, Genshin Impact players should look forward to map expansions the game's 4.1 update will allegedly bring, allowing them to explore more of the game's new region, Fontaine. These map expansions will remain consistent with Fontaine's water-based theme, with Hoyoverse diversifying the expansions' contents with natural attractions like islands, mountains, and underwater sections.

Additionally, Fontaine's Chief Justice, Neuvilette, will also become available as the other five-star character being offered in the game's 4.1 update. Previous leaks put him as a wielder of a Hydro Vision, though his weapon of choice is unknown as of press time.

Additionally, one of the enemies the 4.1 update will bring is the Seneschal of Frost and the Seneschal of Wind. These enemies seem stylish enough for them to be allegedly connected with Arlecchino, the Fatui harbinger seemingly connected to Fontaine's storyline.

Lastly, Genshin Impact's 4.1 update comes with an event that can provide players with a new event-exclusive weapon if they manage to complete it. This weapon, called Ballad of the Boundless Blue, is a catalyst that increases normal and charged attack damage by 16% and 12% for six seconds, respectively.
