Even though Netflix has been criticized for canceling good shows and replacing them with awful ones, they remain in their users' good graces for a few good titles that are worth paying the ever-increasing subscription fee. One of them is "Arcane," but it will be a while before we see the second season.
Buckle Up for a Long Year
It has been two years since the first season of the show based on League of Legends lore was released, and fans have been patiently waiting for the second season ever since. The good news is that there's already an estimated release window.
However, the provided date may snuff out that spark of excitement as it is approximately a year from now. Netflix Geeked announced through X, formerly Twitter, that "Arcane" season 2 will hit the screens in November 2024, barring any delays.
It seems so long from now especially since Riot Games and Netflix already confirmed that that there will be a second season a little while after the show was released. This is the only official update that we have gotten since then, as pointed out by Gizmodo.
The animated series has become more exciting now that it is canon, meaning that it officially explains the interactions that can be found in the game. With it, we can dive deeper into why characters like Jinx and Vi say what they say in the arena.
"Arcane" explains the backstories of playable champions such as Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, Jayce, Viktor, Heimerdinger, and potentially Warwick and Singed. It's still unclear whether the show will continue the story of the mentioned characters or if they will introduce new ones.
After all, there are a lot more regions that the show can explore based on the already-established lore it was based on aside from Piltover and Zaun. In each region, there's a subset of champions that would be interesting to learn more about.
What We Might See in the Next Season
This is all based on speculation, but all we can do right now is create theories about what to expect since not much has been revealed by involved parties in the production. Building on the events from the series, showrunners have a lot of potential routes to take.
For example, they can finally confirm that Vander is Warwick. The signs are all there from his build to his moniker as the "The Hound of the Underground." There's already a chemist on the show who has an affinity for experimenting on live creatures, Singed.
As for exploring other regions, we might even see more of Noxus. A place known for its brutality, it has already been introduced into the show as one of the council members, Mel Medarda, is from there. There's also the arrival of her fearsome mother, Ambessa Medarda.
If the cliffhanger of an ending leads to the death of Mel due to the missile that Jinx launched, this might spark a war between Piltover and Noxus, or Noxus and Zaun. Who knows? The best we can do is sit tight and wait for the next season to confirm which fan theories are right.
