'Arcane' Wins Creative Arts Emmy for Best Animated Program

"Arcane," took home the trophy for "Best Animated Program" at this year's Creative Arts Emmys after the announcement that it's been renewed for a second season.

'Arcane' Wins "Best Animated Program" Award at the Emmys

A year after Netflix and Riot Games debuted 'Arcane,' which told the storyline of how Vi and Jinx were estranged from one another, Gizmodo reported on September 4 that the well-streamed animation received a significant honor.

On Saturday, September 3, 'Arcane' became the first streaming series to have ever been awarded the Best Animated Program at this year's Creative Arts Emmys. This came after "Big Mouth" and "BoJack Horseman" from Netflix were nominated previously but failed to attain the distinction.

This victory is subsequent to Netflix's announcement that 'Arcane' will have its Season 2, which will come on screens next year, and is currently a work in progress.

According to Collider, the award was received by the series' co-creator, Christian Linke, who in his speech said, "Thanks to Netflix, who believed in us from the beginning, thanks to Riot Games, who worked on the whole IP, and to all the people that have been with our game and League of Legends for the last 12 years or so who helped make it as big as it is now."

In the League of Legends-inspired series, which started in November 2021, the lead characters are split up and engaged in fighting on opposite sides of a utopia-dystopia struggle in Piltover and Zaun before being brought back together. It is one of the best-reviewed Netflix movies ever and has a 100% RottenTomatoes rating.

Hailee Steinfeld, who performs the role of Vi in the show, was among the cast members who reacted quickly to the triumph. Steinfeld, who sent congratulations to Arcane, said, "I am so lucky to be part of this show."

Riot Games and Fortich Debuted a Documentary About 'Arcane' in the Making

In line with this, "Arcane: Bridging the Rift," a five-episode documentary released by Riot Games and Fortiche on August 4, will date back to how the series was developed, according to Gizmodo and Dot ESports.

Fans of 'Arcane' may learn more about the show's production by watching the videos offered by League's YouTube channel every Thursday. It shows the program's creators talking about what life is like inside the production facility and how the show came to have such a large fan base.

The documentary will trace back to Riot's goal for a more in-depth narrative storytelling than CG effects led to the animated series development, which was explained by its showrunners Christian "Praeco" Linke and Alex "Skribbles" Yee.

The notion of creating an animated series for their well-liked MOBA first seemed unachievable to creators Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill, with Beck confessing expected that it would fail. However, the co-founders were won over by the animation test involving Jayce and Vi that was done by the French animation studio Fortiche.

In its second episode, Rift is expected to cover how Riot's struggle in employee test screening hampered the development of 'Arcane'. Fortiche reduced its workforce, while Linke and Yee retained as many employees as they could. As a result, K/DA was able to release the 2018 League songs "Rise" and "Pop/Stars."

The event further goes into how the song release motivated Linke and Yee to give 'Arcane' another try and finally connect with Monica Maser, a former Lost cast member, who served as their mentor.
