YouTube, Spotify, and Netflix announced that they won't have a dedicated app for the Apple Vision Pro, instead, they advised users to use their apps through the Safari browser upon launch.
Streaming Apps Passed on Creating Dedicated Apps for Vision Pro
Before the Vision Pro launches on February 2, Apple announced that the app will be supported by various apps made specifically to support the headset's requirements. However, other streaming apps decided to take a pass on the challenge.
Netflix was the first to clarify that it has no intention of creating a Vision Pro app. On the other hand, the streaming service did develop an app for the Meta Quest headset, although it has not been updated in years.
Meanwhile, YouTube and Spotify have decided to follow Netflix's decision. Both apps have also no intention of enabling their iPad apps to run on the headset as an alternative.
Regardless of these platforms' decisions, all of them are still accessible the same way they are used on Macs. However, this eliminates the user's ability to download content for offline consumption.
Apple Vision Pro Offers Personal Entertainment With Dedicated Streaming Apps
The case is not a completely lost cause for people who are eyeing to buy the device. Earlier this week, Apple introduced 3D content and special screening environment on Disney Plus and other platforms.
Vision Pro users can still enjoy streaming various content from ESPN, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour, Max, Discovery+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock, Pluto TV, Tubi, Fubo, Crunchyroll, Red Bull TV, IMAX, TikTok, and MUBI.
Upon the headset's launch, Apple revealed that the upgraded App Store currently consists of more than one million apps, including over 250 games on Apple Arcade, and other spatial experiences.
