When the upcoming "Harry Potter" TV show was first announced, Potterheads were both excited about the news, as well as wary given that the movies have set the bar high. Now, it looks like Warner Bros. is not stopping with one TV show.
More of the Wizarding World
As if the TV show wasn't already huge news to the fans of the Wizarding universe, the possibility of more titles is floated by Warner Bros. Discovery. Max is reportedly "open to the possibility of developing more than one idea based on Harry Potter."
There are certainly a lot of unexplored ideas that can be expanded, especially since author J.K. Rowling created a very complex fictional world with intertwining stories that make for good television. Hopefully, it's as riveting as the previous titles from the Wizarding Universe.
As for news for the upcoming series, several writers are already working on ideas to pitch for an adaptation. Some of the writers mentioned are Martha Hillier, Kathleen Jordan, Tom Moran, and Michael Lesslie, as reported by Screen Rant.
You might recognize them from the other works they have already done. Hillier is one of the executive producers and writers of the historical fiction series "The Last Kingdom," and Jordan is the creator of the teen comedy-drama on Netflix titled "Teen Bounty Hunters."
Moran is most recognized for creating the TV series "The Devil's Hour," and Lesslie wrote the prequel to "The Hunger Games" movie series, "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes." We'll know soon enough who among the writers would be working on more "Harry Potter" content.
For now, all we can hope for is that the green-lit upcoming show does the book justice, especially now that it will be a TV series. The movies were known to have missed a lot of details, which is justifiable given the limited time frame movies have.
Other News for the 'Harry Potter' TV Show
It's been a while since Warner Bros. Discovery announced that there is a "Harry Potter" series in development that will be streaming on Max. Since then, little has been revealed about the show other than key details.
The best news that fans could receive was confirmed by HBO CEO Casey Bloys, wherein the show would adapt all seven novels from the book series written by J.K. Rowling. He added that the show would be a "faithful adaptation," as reported by Deadline.
Given that the show will adapt all seven books, Bloys said that the show would run for 10 consecutive years. It's unknown how they will divide the books to keep it running for a decade, but Bloys promised that they will "do so with the full care and craft of this franchise."
However, don't expect the show to come out any time soon. The expected release date is around 2025 to 2026, meaning that late 2025 is an optimistic estimation. A longer production duration would be better if it means that we will be getting quality content.
