In 2021, "Squid Game" quickly rose to popularity on Netflix due to its unique premise. The nine-episode series captured the attention of many and became the most popular dystopian drama at the time.
Last Summer, Netflix revealed during a Tudum livestream that actors from season one will be returning for another season. This includes Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo.
Meanwhile, new cast members Yim Si-wan, Kang Haneul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun will be introduced in the second season.
What to Expect in 'Squid Game' Season 2
The end of season one left the audience looking for more since the main protagonist Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, had just started to realize the symbolism of the game and what it really meant for him.
On the other hand, Wi Ha-jun's character, Jun-ho was left in an uncertain fate by the end of the season and the audience never really had a closure with his character. Meanwhile, both Gong Yoo and Lee Byung-hun are expected to reprise their character and continue to be the recruiter and overseer of the Squid Game.
While waiting, Netflix had previously aired a reality series based on "Squid Game" which was met with mixed reactions from the audience. For now, Netflix has yet to release the first trailer and announced its release date this year.
