Carlos Alcaraz Defeats Tennis Champion Rafael Nadal on 'The Netflix Slam'

Carlos Alcaraz defeats Rafael Nadal at "The Netflix Slam" in a live exhibition match at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

"The Netflix Slam" is now officially part of Netflix's catalog of live sports streaming events after the successful run of "The Netflix Cup" with Formula 1 drivers and PGA Tour golfers.

'The Netflix Slam' Brings Tennis Action on Streaming

"The Netflix Slam" was streamed live last Sunday and featured on and off court commentary from familiar people in the world of tennis. This included Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, and more.

There was also a commentary team for the Spanish audiences since both Alcaraz and Nadal hailed from Spain. This featured the likes of Nicolás Pereira, Feliciano López, and David Ferrer.

Nadal won the opening set with 6-3 but Alcaraz managed to bounce back with the second set at 6-4. The tie-breaker game made it an exciting match. Alcaraz won the final round with 14-12, making him the winner of "The Netflix Slam."

Netflix Continues Investment in Live Sports

Earlier this year, Netflix secured a 10-year deal with WWE to stream its flagship weekly show, Raw. The live sports event will start in January 2025.

Previously, Netflix saw the success of "The Netflix Cup" which combined Formula 1 and PGA Tour athletes. In addition, the company is also behind popular sports documentaries of these sports like "Formula 1: Drive to Survive," "Break Point," "Full Swing," and more.

Netflix also recently released a NASCAR documentary project called "Full Speed" which is expected to boost Netflix's revenue and audience count. Like F1, NASCAR had decided to collaborate with Netflix to expand the sport's popularity, especially in the U.S.
