The news about the release of the PS5 Pro got PlayStation users excited as they are about ready to see improvements in performance and display. There are already rumors about the specs of the upcoming console, and the frame rate is among many things that will be upgraded.
PS5 Pro Frame Rate
The number of frames per second will determine how smooth a game would look during gameplay, which is why it's a huge factor among gamers. It's also why some prefer a PC over a console since they have more control over its quality.
With the upgrade that comes with the PS5 Pro, players might gravitate towards the console a bit more as it is rumored to offer a 60fps frame rate for select games labeled as "PS5 Pro Enhanced," as well as improved ray tracing and 4K upscaling.
The three improvements can be seen in the PS5 Pro graphics mode option, as reported by The Verge, and it is only available for games that offer the option. That might mean that only a few already-released video games will have an improved version.
Not to worry, as some PS5 games can already run at higher frame rates, even reaching 120fps. Some of those titles include Ghostwire: Tokyo, God of War Ragnarok, Monster Hunter Rise, Overwatch 2, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and more.
Of course, you will also need the right equipment to support such upgrades. For instance, you have to make sure that your TV or monitor is capable of supporting the frame rate, meaning that you'll need at least 60Hz.
PS5 Pro Rumors
The improved frame rate is not the only rumor that sources heard through the grapevine. There are already several details circulating online, including the expected release window for the PS5 Pro, which will be later this year.
It was also said that the PS5 Pro could feature 67 teraflops of compute power, which is a huge technical leap from the PS5's 10.28 teraflops. That means that it could be as powerful as the standard gaming PC, only you won't have to spend thousands of dollars for it.
The system memory performance might also get a boost from the PS5's 448GBs of memory to 576GBs, as per Tom's Guide, along with a better CPU frequency mode that will increase the processor's clock speeds to 3.5GHz.
As for new features, it might not have any other than the performance boost, which has been the case for the PS4 Pro. While the PS5 is more than good enough to run the current games that have been released, future games might run better on the Pro.
Gamers are already anticipating upcoming titles that might call for a performance boost such as Grand Theft Auto VI. It would certainly be a better experience to play it with a higher refresh rate and not have the console work overtime to run the game. It's likely that upcoming games will still be released for the PS5 as well.
