PlayStation 5 Pro Set to Release this Holiday Season: Reports

PlayStation 5 Pro might be releasing sooner than expected, according to leaked information via Insider Gaming.

Insider Gaming reporter Tom Henderson, whose leaks report confirmed to be true, said that Sony is targeting to release the PS5 Pro sometime during this year's holiday season.

Holiday seasons, aside from the Black Friday sales, are usually Sony's biggest sales period for its gaming console due to huge discounts and big game bundles.

Henderson, however, noted that the release date could change later to early 2025 as there are no first-person games scheduled to release during that period.

PlayStation consoles usually release along with several big titles to commemorate its launch like the Demon's Souls Remake for the PS5 in 2020 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for PS5 Slim last November.

The report was published a few days after rumors of a leak on the upcoming console were first noted from the tech reviewer channel, Moore's Law is Dead.

Rumors of the PS5 Pro have been going on for quite some time since it was first reported under the codename "Trinity" in early 2023.

PS5 Pro Specs: What We Know so Far

Along with the reports of its supposed release date, the leaked documents also provided an early insight into the console's specs.

It has earlier been reported that the PS5 Pro will have consisted FPS rate at 4k resolution, a new "performance mode" for 8k resolution, and better ray tracing graphics.

Now, it has been confirmed that the PS5 Pro will also have 33.5 Teraflops for its GPU, "customer machine learning architecture," and an AI accelerator to support both 8-bit and 16-bit processing.

The new installation in the PS5 series is expected to render frames 45% faster than the original console.

This means the new PS5 Pro will be able to handle several big games without much problem, both in graphics and processing divisions.

PS5 Pro Expected to Revive Sony Gaming Sales

With the upcoming release of the PS5 Pro, is expected to further boost Sony's revenues on the console brand amid slow growth in its other divisions.

It was earlier reported that the Japanese tech giant's stock fell 10% last month after it indicated that the PS5 console is nearing its end-of-life cycle.

The PS5 series has been Sony's biggest profit machine since it first launched in 2020.
