The mount is on the pricier side of 90%, but it would be worth the price for some as it already has everything you need to attach accessories for lighting and audio. The center magnet holds the phone even with a case equipped as long as it is MagSafe compatible.

The center mechanism has three extending rods. One is for the handle, the second is for lighting, and the third is for the microphone. The rods come in both long and short cold shoe arms and can be removed for maximum flexibility.

It has a 1/4-inch thread long arm attachment allowing users to mount the iPhone onto a tripod, handle, or desktop arm for various uses like content creation. According to Engadget, the Rode Magnetic Mount is made from high-grade aluminum, which further explains that price.

The material used makes the mount both lightweight and sturdy, which bodes well for videographers who want to take their equipment in the field. The gadget features an ultra-strong magnet so the phone will stay secure in place even with vigorous use.

Since the mount is modular, users can choose how many arms to attach depending on what they need to add to improve video capturing. With the flexibility of attachments, they can decide the orientation they want to film in.

There are five options for cold shoe mounts, 14 options for standard quarter-inch threads, 17 choices for ARRI quarter-inch threads, and two ⅜-inch threads. The mount weights about 285 grams, which means it won't add much weight to the entire setup.

Why Using Phones for Videography Can Be Better

In a professional setting, using an iPhone for shooting videos nowadays is the norm. The results are just as good as professional-grade cameras like DSLRs, and the camera person will have the option to not rely on computers for editing.

There are already powerful editing apps that are intuitive, making them easier to use. They are also user-friendly, which is an advantage for starting videographers who haven't mastered the computer software for advanced editing.

Phones already have numerous accessories meant for shooting videos as well, especially with the increasing number of content creators who require lighting and microphones to create better-looking and better-sounding content.

Convenience and portability also play a huge role. With higher-grade cameras, they tend to be bulkier and will require bigger bags to carry them. With phones, you can always just put them in your pockets and have a smaller bag for its accessories.

Modern smartphones are now equipped with high resolutions, even managing to capture videos in 4k along with easy-to-use features like slow motion, hyper-lapse, and more. They already come with stabilization as well even in older models, which results in high quality and professional-level outputs.
