Peacock is increasing its subscription prices across all plans by $2 per month, starting on July 18 for new customers and August 17 for existing subscribers.
The price hike will make the ad-supported Premium plan $7.99 from $5.99 per month while the Premium Plus plan will be $13.99 from $11.99.
Peacock Increases Subscription Prices Once Again
The annual subscription will also increase from $59.99 to $79.99 for the ad-supported Premium plan while the Premium Plus subscribers must pay $139.99 from $119.99 per year. The price hike comes only one year after the platform increased its fees last summer.
Subscribers of the Premium Plus tier have a mostly ad-free experience. NBCUniversal previously explained that some shows might contain ads due to streaming rights.
Users can also download episodes and tune in to live local NBC channels. Meanwhile, the cheaper plan offers the same programming but with ads.
The platform used to offer users a free and ad-supported option after launching in 2020. However, the introduction of an ad-free tier led to the shutdown of the free streaming option.
Peacock Experiences Increase on Subscriber Count
Peacock reported an additional three million paid subscribers during its first-quarter earnings results. The streaming platform now boasts 34 million overall subscribers.
NBCUniversal CEO Mike Cavanagh shared that the company is focused on a "broad approach." Moreover, the platform will bring more sports, Peacock originals, next-day airing of shows from NBC, pay-1 movies, and more.
Peacock is the home for blockbuster films and series. This includes the award-winning "Oppenheimer" and the series adaptation of "Ted."
The price hike will nearly coincide with the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. Peacock has previously announced that it will stream the sports event starting July 26. The São Paulo exclusive NFL game will also be streamed on September 26.
