Warner Bros. Discovery

Warner Bros. Discovery's Max is set to revolutionize the NASCAR viewing experience with its new multiview feature for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series. Traditionally, fans have relied on video games for an immersive, behind-the-wheel perspective, but Max now brings that experience to live broadcasts, allowing viewers to watch races from a driver's point of view.

While NASCAR has long utilized "Driver Cam" footage during broadcasts, camera angles have been controlled by the league's production team. With Max's multiview feature, users can now choose their preferred driver's perspective in real-time.

Max Multiview Feature Introduced for 2025 NASCAR Cup Series

Warner Bros. Discovery announced in a recent press release that TNT Sports and Max have secured exclusive access to the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series, expanding the multiview experience beyond standard race coverage. Max's multiview will include the "NASCAR Driver Cam," featuring cameras mounted on the dashboard and other areas of the car to provide multiple in-race angles.

Additionally, viewers will have access to live in-car audio, including team communications during pit stops, enhancing the overall experience of the high-speed competition.

According to TechRadar, the Driver Cam feed will debut Sunday, Feb. 2, across all races in the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series available for streaming on Max. The multiview option will provide these exclusive angles for fans.

Experience the 2025 NASCAR Cup Races from the Driver's POV

This marks the first multiview experience for Max, launching with a dedicated stream of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series. The Driver Cam will deliver live 1080p feeds from the driver's POV, showcasing crucial in-car angles. Max will predetermine the available views, while B/R Sports will conduct social media polls allowing fans to vote on which driver's feed will be featured.

Multiview Features in Streaming and Live Entertainment

Online streaming has not only simplified access to content but also transformed live TV with interactive features. One of the most significant innovations in live sports streaming is the "multiview" function, initially popularized by YouTube TV's NFL Sunday Ticket coverage.

Following YouTube TV, several streaming platforms have adopted multiview technology, primarily for live sporting events. Apple TV+ implemented the feature for MLS matches, Peacock used it for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and now Max is expanding its offerings with NASCAR.

One limitation of multiview is that only the primary selected sporting event will have live audio, while secondary views will play silently alongside the main feed. Max's partnership with the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series enhances the multiview experience, providing racing fans with an unprecedented level of immersion by placing them directly in the driver's seat.
