Since streaming services are becoming increasingly expensive, bundles that can let you save a few dollars are starting to sound enticing. There are already options that viewers can explore, and Comcast is adding its own to that list.
Comcast's New Streaming Bundle
If you're interested in watching several shows and movies at a time, chances are you won't find all of them in one streaming service, which is why people have no choice but to subscribe to more than one, which significantly increases the monthly bill.
If you're a subscriber to Comcast, you're in luck because the company is going to unveil a bundle that includes three services, which are Netflix, Apple TV+, and Peacock. Unfortunately, only broadband, TV, and mobile subscribers can avail the bundle.
The plan is said to be at a "vastly reduced price to anything in the market today," according to Comcast CEO Brian Roberts. As mentioned in Reuters, this is likely a part of the company's efforts to retain subscribers as competition rises.
The telecommunications company CEO also said that they have "been bundling video successfully and creatively for 60 years," and that he thinks the plan will be a "pretty compelling package." With a lower price, it might just be.
However, there are also other streaming deals on the market that also include one of the biggest streaming services. Warner Bros. Discovery just announced that it will offer one that has Disney+, Hulu, and Max, and the option is not limited to a certain subscriber base.
The inclusion of Netflix on Comcast's bundle is a smart touch, given that the streaming service reported that it had 269.60 million subscribers in this year's first quarter. That's more than twice the subscriber base of Disney+, which is at 117.6 million.
Streaming Service Price Increases
Anyone who is subscribed to several streaming services can tell you that the collective cost is starting to grow heavier with all the price hikes that have been implemented. It's starting to become too expensive for the average consumer to pay for more than one subscription a month.
Netflix, for instance, has gone from $15.99 to $17.99 in 2020, and it has been increasing since to the point that the Premium plan now costs $22.99. That's a $7 increase in just three years, and it will likely do so again in the future.
Disney+ also increased its prices after losing millions of subscribers back in August. As mentioned in Investopedia, the price went from $10.99 to $13.99 on October 12th last year, with Hulu also going from $15 to $18.
Bundles are a good way for several streaming services to gain each other's subscriber bases, and it's also a low-cost option for people who are starting to question whether having several active subscriptions is still worth the price.
The prices for both Warner Bros. Discovery and Comcast's bundles are still unknown, but the point of the offer is a cheaper price compared to the combined costs of the three included services.
