OpenAI Adds The Atlantic, Vox Media Content for Training Materials

OpenAI has been working closely with media companies to legally authorize the use of their content to train the firm's AI models. The company is allowed to gain access to news content and archives to feed its large language models.

"We're delighted to partner with OpenAI, to make The Atlantic's reporting and stories more discoverable to their millions of users, and to have a voice in shaping how news is surfaced on their platforms," said Nicholas Thompson, CEO of The Atlantic.

The AI giant has been working closely to get exclusive training materials with publications after a series of copyright lawsuits were filed against the company for alleged illegal usage of materials. Partnered companies will be compensated with profits for distributing their content.

OpenAI to Boost Product Development for Advertising Partners

The partnership also includes the development of products for consumers and advertising partners. For instance, OpenAI is helping The Atlantic to create an "experimental microsite, called Atlantic Labs."

The team will have exclusive access to OpenAI tech which will be used to improve news experiences through ChatGPT and other products of the company. Atlantic Labs will be utilized to feature better journalism for readers.

As for Vox Media, OpenAI targets to enhance the existing technology of the company through the publication's archive. Moreover, The Strategist Gift Scout is expected to be improved using OpenAI tools.
